Anyone heard of this brand? Their products were displayed in Tokyo Autosalon. I was wondering if their spring or coilcover are any good. They probably just starting out with performance gears.

OBX take other manufacturer's designs and mass produce them. Be careful, some of their gear is dodgy

If your going to buy anything OBX I would limit it to a gearknob, pedals, shit like that, anything like coilover springs, diffs, tappet covers, pulleys, fuel rails I would steer clear of.

As the saying goes you get what you pay for, and this is the case, with some OBX products I have seen they have come out of the box with burrs sharp edges (inside the fuel rail!!! where it would restrict flow) due to the tooling being worn out on the machine to manufacture the gear.

ground control and skunk2 are in a different class and worth considering IMO

someones been reading import tuner lol :D both of these brands are top shelf gear, with a us dollar value well worth the purchase though.

Im running a SS 4-2-1 OBX header which was hastily bought. Really can't say much good or bad about it.

i have no idea about their suspension products.

The Ground Control coilovers (sleeves) seem to be the pick of the bunch. Just be wary of the spring rates (by memory these come with Eibach springs).

I purchased a set of Weapon R coilover Circuit Pro sleeves, and while they look awesome, and the handling is great (considering my 5th Gen accord is a pretty damn heavy car) but the spring rates are 850 lbs in the front and 650 lbs in the rear resulting in a ride that is damn rough!

The Bilstein shocks I had fitted cant cope with the spring rates and consequently are 'mismatched' giving me a shit ride (bouncy) and to get them revalved will cost $850.... I would have been better off buying coilovers in the first place for $2200.

But you live and you learn

lucky they even fit, the ractive sleeves i got for my 5th gen wouldnt even fit on the shock properly :)

And yeh, i've also learned that when it comes to suspension, do it once and do it right...saves you money and havign to take ur suspension out 30 times :D

do you need shocks with coil?

poid
28-02-2005, 08:08 PM
with sleeves you need shocks, full coilovers of course the shock is part of it
