I went to a tyre shop to get some tyres replaced (i provided my own) and the guys working there balanced and fitted the fronts and for the rears were gonna just fit without balance. They told me rears dont need balancing? i was a bit wtf n tole em to balance them anyway and they did but i was wondering is this ok? or should i be making sure the rears are balanced?

Just because you may not feel it doesn't mean that an out of balance wheel isn't putting stress on your wheel bearing, wheel studs and rear hub - so yes, you did the right thing by asking them to balance the rear wheels.

Yeah agreed. More important to balance the fronts but you sure did the right thing making them do the rears.

Seriously it's so cheap and easy...some people...

When cars had solid rear axles and leaf springs (diffs in the middle) it wasn't generally considered as necessary, but with FWD and particularly IRS most definitely. These guys must have been in a pre 1970's timewarp.
