my 95 vti hatch oil warning light went on after driving about 30 mins after installing my headers, after it goes on indicating low oil, i turned off the engine and about 5 mins later turned it back on and it was normal again? then later on it turn back on and now its off?

what can be the problem?

Check your Oil Dipstick and Check your oil level.

normally the first signs of low oil is the oil light turning on.

it may switch off depending on the level of the car on the road surface as gravity will take its place.

otherwise - check your oil - this will be the first step i would do.

if low, then top up asap!

both times when it went on was on normal straight roads, also i forgot to mention it is just above half between the two dots.

you really need to use an oil pressure guage and check your oil pressure.

if you look in the oil filler hole, does it look like a vegimite factory ?

well for now, it is parked at a station at school atm, drive to station it lit up once again, then i pulled over turned off my engine and turned it back on and it went off.
so does everyone here recommend the oil pressure gauge as ecu man suggested?
if so i will get right onto it when i get home

Are you checking the oil level while the engine is hot? if yes before you warm the engine up, check the oil level, not when ever the engine is hot

ECU has no function or control of the oil pressure light

if you have low oil pressure and your light is turining on because of this then you will risk seizing your engine.

Check your oil dipstick and if its low enough, top the fhukker up!

As to what ECU-MAN said, check where your oil filter fits, tighten it up if loose, and if it does look like vegemite then its probably lost some oil.

TOP UP ASAP - WHEN ITS COLD/WARM!
