Clear out your front blinkers/tail lights for 94 accord

Aim: Clear out 1994 Honda Accord front blinkers. This would also work for a range of other Hondas with similar blinkers to this. Cars with full amber blinkers cannot follow these steps. These types of blinkers are the ones I am talking about.

This is how it should turn out.

This is done by melting the orange plastic piece inside the blinker by melting it, pulling it out and maybe breaking it too.



Time: Anywhere between half a day to a full day. You need a lot of patience.



Required:

- Long nosed pliers (bent ones are very handy)

- Long but thin soldering iron

- Medium sized Philips head screwdriver

- WD40 (not required if you are big and strong and maybe handsome)

- 4 orange light bulbs (if you want to stay legal)

- Time and patience.

OK this is fairly simple but you need to think about safety. The soldering iron is hot and can burn. Also the orange piece can burn (think of wax on your skin) so be careful.



Step 1:

Turn on the soldering iron.



Step 2:

Facing the front of your car, kneel down to the lower opening of the front bum,per. You will see a small hole on the sides of the opening. In that hole lies the screw to releasing the front blinker. Insert the screwdriver like in the pic below unscrew.

Step 3:

Remove the front blinker from the bumper. Sliding it towards the number plate will make it easier to remove as there is a hook/claw piece that holds it in place.

Step 4:

Unclip the wire from the bulb holder. Press the button to unclip.

Step 5:

Untwist the bulb holder from the blinker by turning counter-clockwise.

Step 6:

You should now see the orange plastic piece inside the blinker. In my pic you don’t see it because I already removed it prior to these pics. Just improvise. So the soldering iron will be hot, just insert it into the hole making sure u do not touch the sides marked in red.

Step 7:

While the orange plastic piece is still soft, use the pliers to pull out the piece. Be careful not to get any of it on you as it is HOT. Alternatively, you can let it harden and use the pliers to break it into pieces. I found both methods to work.

Step 8:

Once you have removed all of the orange pieces inside, it should look like this.

Step 9:

Now just follow steps 5 to 1 in reverse order. Remember to slide the blinker into place with the hook/claw sitting firmly inside.

If you think you done a good enough job, do the tail lights. Its exactly the same procedure, you will need more time and patience as well. It should turn out like this.

i did it to my car aswell*did it the hard way.. prying the actualy light asembly apart...*

i turned the bumper indicator to a Parker light or so called mini fog light.. looks aiight :D

travis: the oem accord tail lights that the orange plastic thing inside too, i dont think it could work if the tail lights were orange itself... and i wasnt too sure about doing the write up, i was afraid it would take your business away! :(
