There is no question of the determination of Suzuki-san and his loyal team of helpers and what they are now acheiving is nothing short of astonishing! On the weekend the team competed in a time attack event at Tsukuba circuit where they realed off a time that had many seasoned campaigners staring in disbelief! The time was 54.1 seconds and we are told there is plenty more left to come!!

It was only a couple of years ago and very few time attack cars had ever even gone under 54.5 seconds, with Cyber Evo’s best time (that we know of) a 54.3 and M Speed GTR with a 54.4 recorded in 2007. The legendary HKS 230R was still a fair way in front with a 53,5 until Garage Revolution RX7 arrived at the Revspeed event in December 2010. The tuner Aoki-san had the car set on kill and pro driver Yasu Kikichu stopped the clocks at a time of 53.6 and setting the internet forums ablaze with gossip.

Whilst they did not beat the HKS time they were astonishingly close and looking through the MoTec data (I have seen this with my own eyes) it is clear that it was certainly not a perfect run meaning that in due course the current lap record will probably be beaten sooner rather than later.

And now it appears that Garage Revolution are not the only ones closing in. Suzuki-san and they Scorch guys have been working long and hard on refining what was already a potent package into something that could, by all acounts if everything goes to plan, be capable of taking a victory in August at Eastern Creek. The biggest changes have been to the aero and American aero ace, Andrew Brilliant, has taken a shine to this project and has been around on the odd evening advising Suzuki-san of what changes to make.

“This is nothing short of amazing what this guy can pull off!” said Andrew “This car is already pretty damn special. To acheive this in what is still a unibody car with fairly limited funding shows the dedication Suzuki-san has to this. He works on this car nearly every single night after work, and then drives it every chance he gets to test things, there sure as hell aint no wind tunnel here.”

“He modified the hood, front undertray and ducting and that provided so much more frontal force so then it ran out of wing. This time out he modified the wing and a few other odds and ends and that was worth eight tenths of a second!! Try finding that using horsepower alone!”

” I really want to win outright this year” said Suzuki-san “I want to show that I can do it and I can do it in my Silvia! We will keep trying until we can win WTAC!”
