Hi guys, just working through my wiring gremlins again and came across some issues in the main relay wiring. Out of all the connections, only the Yellow/White wire had +ve current (power). Then the blue/white and black/yellow (and of course black) were all -ve.

Can someone with an OBD1 wiring/ Eg Vti or otherwise knowledgeable in this area please tell me which wires they have -ve and +ve in the main relay connection? I know its a pain in the ass to get to, but this would really help me out.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you both!

I think I may have wired the IG1 connections wrong, as I'm also getting a -ve off the ECU fuse under the dashboard.

what does -ve mean to you ? what pins of the relay have you wired -ve
have you wired -ve to 12v+ or to ground ?

As someone who has traced many of the thousands of ends in the VTi loom, can I ask where this diagram is from?

Do you have a source? It looks like it would be extremely valuable, especially if it comes from a manual that is available.

Cheers,

Peter

This diagram is from a program called Tolerance Data, similar to auto data. I can upload the whole wiring diagram if you want it.

Update: this is the wiring diagram for 92-95 eg press here to download, Multiple Links ;) (http://mir.cr/SAKNDFPN)

Excellent. Much appreciated.

Even if the wiring isn't exactly the same, those two files will be a great asset in the future.

Peter, the haynes workshop manual also has wiring diagrams which are basically identical to the one above

This is color diagrams which look better than the black/white Haynes manual.
You are welcome any time.

In regards to the under dash ECU fuse (fuse #18), i was using a test light to check fuses/connections and I thought it wasn't working (under hood ECU back up is fine), however later instead of earthing the test light i connected +ve and it lit up on the ECU fuse. I traced the plug and the wired that powered the said socket and it lead to ignition switch, so I need to check it out.

In regards to the main relay, the only -ve that I connected was the black/earth. Looking at the diagram the blk/ylw wire should be positive, however I found mine was lighting the test light when the test light was connected to +ve. I tried to trace the wire to the origin, but the wiring diagram in the manual is too small and messy to be able to see where its going.

Currently this is what i've got on the main relay:

6 Blue/wht: -ve
5 Blk/yel: -ve
2 Blk: -ve
1 Yel/wht: +12v on ign.

all other pins are not live.
