View Full Version : Ek noob ?..need help from ek experts

hi guys. i dont know anything bout engine mods but wants to add a bit of power to my engine without spending much as i got family to feed as well. i got a 97 ek sedan with d16y5 engine.any tips from the experts here will be very much appreciated. thanks guys!

As you said "without spending too much" theres not much for d series that will make more power cheaply.
I would say put a set of cheap headers on for starters,as just about anything is better than the stock system.
A catback exhaust wont make much difference in my opinion except more noise.
Make sure its serviced up to date with clean oil and plugs,run 98 octane fuel and a high flow air filter will give a bit more throttle response

thanks for that.will try to find good headers for my car.is d16y8 a different engine or is it just a y5 with mods?? sorry if this sounds stupid but i really want to know more bout my car.thanks for the advise..

d16y5 has vtec-e which is the economy version of vtec for the d series,not performance orientated at all sadly.
The d16y8 is considered the best single cam d series as far as performance goes but keep in mind d series as a whole are not a sporty type engine
