Hi all,

i am looking to get reverse parking sensors installed. having done some research to get these sensors installed cost an arm and a leg ranging from $300 installed by strathfield or $500 by larke hoskins.

i found a set of these off ebay which look like the ones everyone else has

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-4-Sensor-LED-Display-Reversing-Reverse-Car-Parking-/140583357198?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bb6bcb0e#ht_4189wt_907

the install job looks easy enough. i just want to know if anyone has done this sort of job themselves and if you have any tips for me?

cheers

I haven't personally done one myself, but I have helped someone install one on their car.
Looked quite easy enough..
Drill the 4 holes evenly across (best to measure it out according to what the instructions say) I can't remember exactly which measurement the drill was.
Then before putting in the sensors, make sure that you test each one to make sure which side is what sensor etc.
Then set up where you want to place the LED display, then connect the wires and hide them to make it neat etc etc
Might be a tad of a pain to hide the wires in the A pillar because of the airbags..but it's doable..

I did mine from an ebay kit. Installed a metal strip on the inside of the bumper and wire it to the reverse light. hey presto was piss easy

just like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Reverse-parking-sensor-/150769648031?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231a92419f#ht_500wt_1174

so i called the guy up "alan" arranged for tuesday midday. his colleague called me up at 7:30am on tuesday saying they can do it at 8:30am if i am up for it.
8:30am came and the guy says he's on his way. then 9am alan calls me up telling me the guy didn't have the sensors on him so he has to go back to get them and told me installer will be around 12pm (already super pissed off for waking me up at 7). 12pm he calls me up asking for my paint code and I'm like wtf. you asked for that last week i thought it was already done. 1pm i call him back and he says he's waiting for the paint to dry from painters. 1:30 i called him again he says its still baking and would give me a call once its dried.
2pm he got some chinese dude to call me if i still want to get it done without the paint or do it some other day.

i just hung up on these guys.... absolutely appalling business they're running i would not recommend him to anyone.
