We all saw this coming but..
:honda: officially killing off FN2R as the UK production ceases.
http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/type-r-for-retired-20120229-1u1qf.html
this for comedic value:
The petrol-electric hybrid CR-Z will now carry Honda Australia's sporting mantle, while the company waits at least three years for the reborn NSX supercar to arrive on these shores.
"Our focus in terms of sportiness is on CR-Z and NSX would be pretty much on top of our wish list," said Collins
awww i now drive a relic?

Ha, as if we will actually get the reborn NSX here, it will come for the motor shows, and that will be it, then again, 5 knobs or so paid for the new Lexus LF-A but my big worry is how overpriced the new NSX will be, and no (affordable) hero car for the Honda fanboys..
u mad?
01-03-2012, 10:45 AM
So honda won't have any sports cars in there line-up until nsx?
Fukin honda, gone to shit.

President of Mugen Euro, Hiro Toyoda, said: “Environmental pressures mean naturally aspirated engines are being superseded by other engine architectures and technologies. We may never see the like of the K20 in a mainstream production car again
fvck me honda going to shit, everybody do k swaps before were all stuck with hybrid electric engines

Actually, I reckon it'll be awesome to start seeing hybrid swaps in ef/g/k and dc2/4

Fossil fuel is a limited resource

Yeah, I was actually semi serious.
Electric motors have an advantage over internal combustion in that they produce maximum torque from zero revs. And that torque is actually pretty decent.
This gives awesome acceleration.

as opposed to combustion engines needing to rev to achieve torque

There was a mob called Gas Research that made LPG carbies and systems, 'sposed to work well on EFI plenums.

yeah Gas Research is still around, but most of their gear ends up on V8s

Ethanol (plant based) is getting quite big in the US. It's biggest problem as far as it's use in motor vehicles is it's absorbtion (contamination) of water (condensation in the vehicles tank etc or groundwater entering storage tanks) and the fact that it needs about twice the volume of liquid to produce equivalent energy.
Would solve the pollution problem virtually O/night if those problems could be solved.

Mid west uses corn to convert to ethanol.
Problem: the energy input to produce is more than the energy content of the ethanol produced. And uses more energy than refining crude oil on a per liter basis, sugar came ethanol is slightly better but is still a negative.
1st world Problem: people are starving in Africa and y'all use food to burn?!
Problem: energy used I refine those thing still came off the ground.

so we need to find energy that comes from above, not from below.

.... Or we find some non-conventional energy generation technology...
Cold fusion or Thorium fission comes to mind.

Just need hydrogen power to come about.
Be it directly powered, or powering a hybrid.

We'll have to have some way of telling what make it is. For the rest of us, we'd better start recording our exhaust tones so we can play them to ourselves via our sound systems.
I'd rock a crz with some nice mods. Sad tho
