Anyone know whether there's an EK AC compressor with a 5 rib pulley?? Needing some info pretty urgently to get my car running. Much thanks to anyone who can help!

how come you need 5 ribbed pulley?

I have a H drop in my EG and the H22A1s come with 5 ribs. The innovative mount I purchased to re use the D series compressor on the H (specific bracket) made no mention of D series compressors having 1 less rib..neither did any of the forums I've checked. If no D series compressors didn't come with 5 ribs, then I'm shit out of luck since the H one won't fit due to the compressor wheel hitting the frame rail.

you can still use 4 rib on a 5 rib pulley.

just not the other way around.

why dont you swap the pulleys around and use the 4rib rather than the 5rib??

would it clear the frame?

It's harder than that sounds with swapping the pulleys...in fact, it's a complete pain in the arse without the right tools lol Which I can't afford.

I might take Bludger's suggestion (thanks matey) and try using the 4 rib. Any chances it might slip or skip? I suppose I can tension it enough so it won't slip/fly off etc.

Either that, or I just do away with it until I find a way to swap the pulleys over without it being an absolute shit.

U just need a good socket, spanner and a mullet if u dont have a torque driver.

If ur gunna do the pulleys remove the pulley bolt while the compressor is still bolted to the car so its firm and steady. (only if accessable).

Otherwise take the whole compressor to a workshop for them to do change over. $30 max IMO.

you're using a 4 rib belt and all 4 ribs are seated properly, tension like normal, not more.

Sweet, I'll give that a shot after I pay a visit to Bursons. I'll let you know how things go.

I've seen 6 rib belts run on 7 rib pulleys without any problems, u should be fine.

Thanks mate. Needed that little bit of re assurance =) How much should I tension the belt? Is it like a timing belt? Tension for a couple of cm's of slack?

tension it like a normal belt. tight bit not too tight.

Just a heads up on this. It's all sorted so now I'm running a 4 rib serpentine belt on a 5 rib pulley system to retain AC from the D series. Rep points for the fine gentlemen and their help!

Yeh I agree man. Too many forums with wankers saying "Yes! I fixed it!"...with no shared knowledge. I'm sharing my findings. The belt required is a Dayco 4PK1090 serpentine poly rib v-belt, the bracket I used is the H series to D series AC Compressor Bracket from Innovative mounts. This is for anyone who's game enough to go through the harrowing experience of transplanting a H in to an EG with AC retention. This is a 4 rib belt running on a 5 rib pulley system (alternator and crank pulley are 5). Powersteering is kept as well with the normal OEM belt so no need for modification. Be warned, there is very little space if you decide to fit the PS pump back in so ensure proper clearance to allow engine torque movement.
