Hi Everyone,
Looking for some help, as shops can't hear it.

There is a knocking noise coming from the front of the car.
Typically going over small sharp bumps when turning and happens more often when the left wheel goes over the bumps.
All my bushes have been changed and the noise was present before they were changed.

I can feel the knock when i rest my foot on the foot rest.
Any ideas? loose steering rack???

Thanks

Swaybar links or d-bushes, ball joints, steering rack (rare) - many things can cause a knock...

if it wasnt there when the bushes were changed, and started as soon as they were done, could be something not tightened up properly.

Sounds like it could also be CV joint.

Did you get the work done by a mechanic? Do you have any idea what you should be looking for when you stick your head under teh car?
if you answered yes, followed by no, dont bother asking us, just take it back to the mechanic.

EDIT: as others have said ...... see the below also..

couple things to think about ;

1) Condition of the Shocks/coilovers?
2) Do you have a adjustable top pillow ball mount?
3) adjustable front camber arms?
4) damaged wheel bearings?
5) buckled wheel.
6) front RSB D mounts loose?
7) End links goneskies?
8) worse case - steering rack assembly

sus them out one by one before you start buying / replacing parts.

FK - as soon as i submit 2 more posts beat me to it.. LOL

Hi everyone,
Shocks are brand new, i have replaced all the bushes that are included in the hardrace kit from JDMyard, was done by a mechanic.
Wheel bearings have been replaced.
However, the noise was there before all this work was done and whenever i bring in into a shop i ask them to see if they can hear it and they always say no. The noise has been around for atleast a year now. All work has been carried out essentially over the last six months.
Umm a CV boot did split a little while ago but the minute that happened the car went to the shop.
I'm thinking maybe its a driveshaft, the car has 247K on it and it would make sense that if is knocking around i would feel it in the foot pedal as the gearbox is right underneath.

Can someone tell me if there is anything i can look for to see if it is worn?
Also, what happens if or when it does let go?

Thank for all your help

could be many things

make sure your front suspension and associated bolts are torqued properly.

Just get someone to rock the engine back and forth while you look if shit comes out of the rubber mount

just physically look at the mounts. Look for cracked or broken mounts.

your B16a's mounts differ slightly, but that's what pretty much they look like

its kinda a pain in the ass

you will need a jack stand (big one) to hold the engine in place
chock it with a rubber block of wood if you dont have rubber

unless you good with the tools just take to mechanic..

Same thing happened to me last week. I took it to the mechanic to get checked out and had it run on the car hoist for several minutes, only to find 3 of my lug nuts from the front right wheel were missing. Sometimes its the things you least expect. Check it and make sure they are all there and torqued tight
