I had a black MY05 Vti until last Saturday. Japan build in 01/06
I was driving up Mona Vale Rd in Sydney in the rain and a taxi stopped in front to do an illegal Uturn on double lines.
The Falcon wagon in front stopped, and I stopped however the girl driving a 2002 or so Barina didn't and hit me at say 40-50Kmh which drove me into the Falcon.
I took it to be assessed by Youi on Thursday and it is written off.
The floor in the back is distorted in front of the spare tyre as well as obviously the back, and the front LH Guard, bonnet. etc etc were also hit.
I have to say I am glad that the car crushed so much as neither my wife or I suffered whiplash and luckily the airbags did not deploy. The car was in a bad state but still driveable! and I was able to drive home.
Today I bought a white MY06 Vti in Bathurst and I will go up tomorrow to pick it up on Monday. my wife will not have anything else!
So what are the differences between MY05 and MY06 other than LED taillights and indicators in the mirrors?
Youi have been terrific so far , but I am waiting to see whether they want to insure the new one.

wait your jazz was a Japanese january 2006? (01/06) all the 06 ones and onward were meant to be thai built...
but as you have stated no differences. did the old one have a full size spare tyre?

He said it was an MY05 01/06 so prolly the last bunch before they went to Thai built.
Pics of damage?
The difference between a 05 and a 06 model Jazz vti is 06 has Led rear tail light, indicator mounted side mirrors , rear bumper is actually the same shape, led 3rd break light, different rims .that's it

its hard to believe tho because they say that all 06 and later were thai built they make it sound like a very hardfast rule.
maybe since its my05

MY06 has different carpet to MY05 and boot carpet goes all the way to the edges in MY06. MY06 doesn't have the little pocket in the side of the front seat.

The front passenger seat on the MY05 has a small pocket on the side of the upright section of the seat. It's on the inside side near the centre console.
The early MY05's certainly had it, not sure if it continued right through to the 2006 built MY05's. I'm sure others can verify if theirs has it or not. The MY05's that I've seen it on were VTI-S but VTI should be the same.

Hi all and thanks for the comments.
I now have had my new 03/06 Thai built update for a couple of weeks.
There are quite a lot of differences some major between the 01 and 03/06 update.
The biggest difference I discovered yesterday. The engine is located differently!! In the old one I scraped the back of my hand between engine and firewall when trying to remove coils etc. In the new one the engine is about 20-30CM lower and further forward and it is easy to place my hand down behind it. Now I do not know whether the mounts were cactus on the old one but I think not. Certainly the mounts on the new one are OK.
The air intake is different with a different air cleaner.
There must be changes to the engine management as the new one is noticably more economical than the old one. I think 5% plus , though conditions are never the same. All I know is that it read 5.9 l per 100 Km after a trip from my home on the Central Coast to Sydney in PEAK HOUR and across Sydney to Prospect and home. I recall around 6.4 or so on similar trips to Sydney in the old one. Bathurst to Central Coast was 5.2. and I checked the gauge against Kms and fuel used and it was accurate.
Otherwise the changes are cosmetic with taillights, mirrors ( I like electric fold), mirror indicator repeaters and detailed changes to the instruments eg steering wheel instead of ESS or whatever light and petrol bowser instead of plain low fuel light. Oh , full tint screen with band tint at the top .
The car seems to be assemled BETTER than the Japanese one with tighter shut lines and more rigidity.
The exhaust has a different sound , louder on override with a resonance at about 1500-2000RPM, probably different vendor.
All in all a relatively pleasant experience and I ended up with a 45KK car in white instead of an 85KK car in black and although I am not a fan of white it is certainly cooler, although looks the same dirty as clean.
The only real downer with the new car was that it looks like the PO hardly ever had it serviced, and it may have gone 20KK without an oil change! I immediately changed the oil and filter for 5W/30 full synthetic and ran it for 1.5K then changed again to Royal purple 5W/20 . Looks nice and clean now and the engine doesn't make any noises and goes well. Time will tell whether oil consumption is excessive , but I do not think so.
The front tyres were worn, so I replaced them with Pirelli P6s , and they seem to grip better than the XM1 Michelins I had on , but are a tad harsher.

im away of the air cleaner change on the later version but the more economy i find hard to believe, maybe ur babying it more because its newer to u. or because its newer its calibrated a bit closer to stock due to less wear and age.

I have P6's as well. Awesome tyre. My Euro has P7's and they are even better.

Yes its a mystery to me also (but good!). I am now wondering if the O2 sensors were dying in the old car. I drive it the same at 110Kmh on the F3 according to GPS , and its speedo error is almost exactly the same as the old one at about 2Kmh . I had added Oil Extreme to the old car's oil and I wonder if that affected the O2 sensors as the oil companies are removing ZDDP from oil to protect the converters, and Oil Extreme is mostly ZDDP.
Anyway so far so good.
Regards Philip A
I now am using 5W20 Royal purple since seeing the Honda presentation in the USA appproving 5W20 for all Honda models , while I used 5W30 Nulon in the old car.

aslong as your happy with it mate, however i dont trust those GPS speedos, they dont take into account inclines and declines of the road, so if ur going down a 45 degree slope at 50km/h according to ur GPS then ur car is more likely doing 70kmh. its all math, those things read the latitude longitude positions, not the actual speed taking into account gradient.
