Hey all finally. Bit the bullet and joined. I currently have a 1997 crx del sol (civic del sol if you're American). Looking to do some mild modes in he not too distant future (I/H/E and some other bit) am thinking of doing something a little more major somewhere don't the track. Just incase anyone asks yep same username on crx Australia.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking of getting a spoon stroker crank some where down the track. But I figure I need to have it sitting and handling right first.

Thanks. I'm happy with how it performs, I really just want some more torque. If I win the lotto or find a pot of gold I would love to drop a k20 or h22 to update the car a little. But that's a while off I think

Curses..... I'm trying soo hard, you can see why I flunked English at school. I was always better at math and using my hands.

Thanks for the comments, I originally bought her to turn into a track car and drive my old civic gli daily. But I enjoyed driving it do much I decided to turn the civic into a track car. 2 months later I sold the civic, cause why can't she be both?

Working on stance and looks while I'm on my p's. Then I'm thinking a b20vtec or a k20 type s (type r if I'm feeling particularly bad ass) to update a bit. I want to go FI but i think I'll stay N/A for now....maybe that's another thing I can do later, a nice k20 running 6 or 7 psi :D

Ask any non-english speaker. It's the world's worst language to learn.('cause it's such a hotchpotch of languages). When Fred and I were at school we had a dutch teacher for english and he was reading something to us and pronounced slaughter like you would laughter. Of course that caused a lot of laughter.

Why not just upgrade to B18C instead of messing around with strokers

If I was gonna stroke it I would drop a b16b in first. But I'm more leaning towards a k swap now... Still a long way off tho, I just like to know where I'm headed

english i think is more recognition of words, instead of actually reading it, what you think pops?

Totally. All in context. Not something you can learn properly by reading it and sounding it out.

Bit late with this, but that's the way it's been taught for quite a while now. (the reason 1/2 the kids can't spell haha). Wait for a generation (maybe not even that) and we'll all be talking in txt anyway.

Welcome mate. Hard to see Gen 3's around Brisbane/ Ipswich. Should arrange a CRX gathering.

Also as of 95 I believe *Dont quote me on this* the del sol part was cut from the name and referred just to CRX.

So as you have a 97 model like myself. it's just "CRX".

Too late to wiki and check that ish.

Bingo, but it's amazing how worked up some people get if you call it just a crx. But that's what it is.

Yes, you don't see many at all anymore let alone deep in commonwhore territory (I actually live 1/2 ippy side of towoomba). But it's great to drive anywhere put here, 10 mins to Mount Mort/Mount Grandchester (nice and twisty, but bit bumpy) and arrow straight roads.

Would love to. I am watching the new crz type r closely tho, thinking of maybe doing the unthinkable, Putting a hybrid in. will have to do more research but the idea is growing on me. And those new earth dream (I think that's there concept name) blocks look very appealing. But will have to see how they actually perform.

But not a lot beats a nice k20 crx

I would love to be. One of the reasons I decided to keep my sol and sell the civic was because their are very few around now (seen more since I got mine than I did before). I've always like the uniqueness of the crx's. And something like a 200bhp 1.5 turbo crx would be unreal. But I'm one of those people who don't need massive power and toque figures to enjoy driving my car. Just the mundane drive to work and back, the looks from the few people who know what a crx is.

But this is all very much in the planning stage still, on my p's till end of feb 2013, Hopefully have it sitting/handling right by then.

Haha, god since I bought this car I've had soo many ideas about what to do, and since my civic my taste in cars has changed soo much. Just thinking my sol should reflect who I an as a person (give it my own style)

:) would love to. Prolly the biggest thing holding me back is lack of knowledge, would you believe that before 2010 I wasn't interested in cars? My parents even made me get my license. But cars, rebuilding and love of everything Motorsport related is so deeply ingrained in my fathers family.

Alright I will go away and find out as much as I can about these L series and earth dreams as I can

I wasn't talking about a shitty K series motor.

I'm talking about being a pioneer.

being a pioneer is being FIRST.

be the first to put a hybrid motor in your car.

Oh I see. I thought we were talking about playing with the new Hondas and their toys, my bad. I don't realy mind someone beating me to the punch, I would rather do it right the first time then quick and make mistakes.

And I love my b16 the only problem I have if the lack torque when you put your foot down (hence the original idea of just stroking)

hondapop
19-03-2012, 01:59 PM
Basicly anything N/A under 2Ltrs (1.8 minimum) will suffer from torque issues, and you don't need Vtec to produce torque, so a B20b for a daily will give you all the "off the mark" poke you'll need.

But hybrids of course offer torque in abundance and good fuel economy.

That all depends on the stroke too. D's make much more torque then B's

Exactly my reason for wanting to use one... Tho I'm loving the sound of the crz type r

Alright i sort of have a direction for the engine swap now, staying B series so going for a b20 and ITR head (P72?) and will start building (sometime soonish hopefully). This was brought about because one of my mates bought a mivec lancer and recons it eats B's for breakfast

Lol I wish, nah he bought a second hand 2000 MR ( don't quote me) 90xxx kms. He wants to drop a FTO GPX mivec in it, 2L V6 off memory makes 200hp and 150 toques.....which is near as makes no difference a b18c type r. Only bigger displacement and 2 more cyls.

But he still reckons the only Honda 4 that could come close to keeping pace is the f20c (before the swap). And he recons that after the swap it would rape 2jz's.....aiming a little high if I don't say

dc292177917
26-03-2012, 11:50 PM
frankly.....
for all the pains he is going to go thru,
just get a E6 will probably end up cheaper lol
apart from the power figures
gear ratio plays a very important role on small NA cars
