Im been getting this very annoying problem after i got my mugen lip on my ek.
The front bit is low and im scraping on speed humps at 25km and im only using stock sus.
Its getting really annoying as it feels like the front springs are way too soft and im just wondering if get some kings springs or something it will fix it up. I know if i just drive slower i wont get this issue but sometimes when i don't see those speed humps at night its just hurts the hear those sound.
any help will be nice
cheers

If you put superlow rears you wont scrape the front lip as much

Wouldn't that make my car look weird and handle weird?

Yes,but the lip wouldnt scrape.

Combining slowing down a bit more with a set of coilovers would probably solve the issue.

Stiffer spring rates with better dampers is the way to go

i would love a set of coilover but bit tight on cash right now lol
i hate how all speed bumps are different as well

honestly dont waste your money on springs, save for coilovers.

just slow the heck down, and zig zag if you have to.

putting low springs on won't help.. it'll make matters worse.. you're lowering your car.. therefore making your lip lower to the ground.

Just drive slower, and go in diagonally. I know the horrid feeling of scraping your front bar/ lip.. it happened a bit in my old eg... not fun. but if you go slower, it'll make things easier.

Aftermarket std height coils will help since the spring rate is higher, however if money is tight just wait until you can do it all right and do it once.

Agrees just slow down. What ground clearance does your front lip have?

I take speed humps at like 10km/hr

1) lowering the car
2) driving over speed hump in normal speed
3) not able to afford a nicer suspension yet

yea keep dreaming mate...
speed humps are meant to slow u down
so please slow down

I would say take the lip off till you get some coils (if it's really that big a problem) I take speed bumps at ~10kph or lower and my del sol is the standard height, just getting used to doing it. Annoys the f**k outta the 4x4s behind me lol.

Im not driving that fast lol
Well il just slow down til i can get set of coilovers than.

I'd say your shocks are stuffed. Get a new pair for chips and replace it. But yeah, mainly just slow down.

Having coilovers won't allow you to go over speed humps faster though...

What about rally spec ones?

Doing 25km/h over speed humps is quite fast IMHO... I'm with everyone's suggestion - slow your roll! Getting coils and doing that speed, you'll end up in the air LOL

I won't but ill love too :D.
I dont get why they put 25kms p/h on the signs thou, i usually go under 20~15 but sometimes i just cant get a good estimate how high some of the humps are. Im not attempting to be the first to fly with an ek civic over speed humps lol.
I do think my shocks are screwed though, there's the very weird feeling from all 4 shocks especially the rears + knocking sound sometime (happens more often on the rear)

Considering the age of your car (being Ek its at least 11 years old) there is a good chance that your standard shocks are dead or not helping things much at all.

Everyone will tell you to get coilovers, they aren't necessary, a good spring and shock combo is a great option

Guess soo. In my 5t month of owning this ek i knew this was bound to happen. Im just gunna jump onto coilovers as soon as possible as i do like the track day once in a while. Thanks for the help guys.

With coils I suggest going even slower unless you wanna compress your spine lol. It's a way of life, just get used to driving slow/going diagonal and ignoring the annoyed drivers around you.

My GF takes speed humps at 50kmph in her '08 corolla and it actually scares the sH!t outta me lol. In fact it feels smoother in her car at 50 than 30 or so. Just fly right over...

if you're getting coils, make sure their damper adjustable ones unless you want to break your back lol

25km is the recommended speed for a stock car..

if your gonna lower your car not too low go over at 10 km..

if its dump stop then drive over lol.

honestly just get a em1 front lip looks better then mugen, cleaner look + wont crack as easy and yeah.

25km is the recommended speed for a stock car..

That would depend on how the bump is. I sh*t you not where I work they have them about twice as high as the are wide.....more like gutters or skate ramps. So unfortunately I can't park in the secure parking :( as my exhaust apparently damaged it (so my boss says).

trust me you dont wanna fly with coils on.

I once hit a speed bump at arnd 30kms an hour whilst delivering a meal for my mums restaurant.
i have bc coils and no shit they through me. im sure its not as bad as it felt but the meal in the seat next to me went air born and i had to push it back down to the seat with one hand and hold the wheel with the other.

im usually quite wary of these things, but the bump was at the bottom of a hill, and completely randomly placed, plus the warning signs were bent back around the poles and the white paint had already been scraped off by the sucker before me. luckily i noticed it at the last second and smashed the breaks then let go real quick to give me some spring travel.

no damage or anything but quite exciting/scary

Funny thing is, I went 60km/h over a speed hump, whilst still turning.. in my first gen... >.> got airborn and flew across the other side of the road... The stupid speed humps weren't marked, no signs, nothing... tha fuq? glad nothing was broken...

But yes, 12km/h is a good speed.
Also sucks about your lip, but eh. now fly over those humps, fly my son, flyyyy~
