HELP! I have a 2003 Honda Jazz 1.5 VTI. While drivig this afternoon, the engine went dead. No noise, no smell, no pre-warning. It felt as though the key was switched off. Yet electrical power is there, new battery, 1/4 tank of fuel, dash ligths come on, starter turns, engine turns but it does not fire up. I have checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood. All good. No electrical melting of cables. It is as though the spark plugs are not there???

No weired smells either. Last night went through the fuses again. Checked for any similar experiences on the web. Got one lead that it could be the Immobiliser. So I used my spare keys. Still did not work. So if it's the immobiliser it mus tbe on the cars side and not the keys?
The fuse box under the hood, when I opened it, had a electrical component burnt smell to it, it could be my imagination though? I opened the under stearing cover to look at the ignition, but all plugs are connected, wires are intact, nothing loose. Actually just stuffing around looking for something out of place. Eventuially after trying to start the car so many times battery went flat, so I recharged it.

Well, I would imagine It's not easy just to figure outwhays wrong. Most of us just look under the bonnet for a big sign saying "... this is why It's not going." But It's never that easy.

We have 2 Honda jazz's that are used as driving school cars. One is a 2003 1.5 VTI model. Last Thursday it just died. It was just parked up in the garage for 10 minutes. The ignition was switched on, the motor was turning over but would not start at all. All fuses were checked and found to be o.k. The RAC (W.A.) was called in. The mechanic suspects that the fuel pump is the problem as there is no pump noise for the first 2 seconds upon ignition being turned on. We compared this to the second car. Because it is located inside the fuel tank and special tools are required to access it he suggested that it be towed to the local Honda shop & have them check it out. A fortnight ago all the spark plugs were changed (iridium) and all 4 coil packs were replaced with new ones. A new K&R filter was also put in. This car has 210k on the clock was running like new, smooth as, getting 5.8L per 100klm. It is booked in for this Thursday. This should be interesting. I am so happy i wasn't in the middle of the desert or worse when this happened

interesting i can clock 5.3L/100km, really babying it a long tho, i can only guess you make your learners drive slow and baby it along so i see no reason for it to be wear and tear, and the fact u have 210k km's on the car and that it still felt new is also no surprise.
