Hey guys!

Just about to do a major service on my DC2R
changing spark plugs to NGK iridium, so im looking at changing the leads since im at it

just want to hear a comparison between the two (NGK and BOSCH)
i've did a search and only one topic came up which was done 5 years ago
BOSCH VS NGK (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?45880-Bosch-or-NGK-ignition-leads)

People said OEM is the way to go, so im considering that too if so
My car is pretty much stock, all stock internals and pretty much no bolt ons besides structs and coilovers :)

love to hear anyones opinions
Thanks!

Ngk is my pick
you can get 2 types aussie ngk leads which are black and blue
or jdm ones which are all blue

NGK bang for buck.

OEM too expensive.

NGK is like $100+ if u buy from local auto stores. I'd go NGK, havent heard bad things bout em

Accel thundersport 8mm leads $40 delivered from the states. Egxris uses them says they goot!

Personally I'd go with Ngk. They've been specialists in ignition systems for a long time and the products don't cost too much. OEM items are probably a rebadged Bosch or Denso or Ngk product, all youre paying for is the Honda name. I work at a Citroen dealership and the plugs we use are rebadged Bosch ones but cost an arm and a leg lol.

OEM leads are only a rip off in Australia. Can be had for about $40 from the US. But to make it worth ordering you will need to buy more than just leads for the cost of postage. But if you plan on doing a major service you might as well order all OEM parts you need from the US and save some cash and get OEM quality

I know for a fact that the iridium plugs in the DC5R are relabeled NGK's.
I just head to Superbarn to get my plugs.

Spoon™ will be best I can say

But if you cant afford then NGK is ok too.
I have a blue JDM set and been using it about 7 years so far with no issues

wow, great responses!

I think its pretty much settled that ill be getting NGK plugs, blue.
not many people has said anything about BOSCH so ill probably leave that aside

I don't think yonas sells NGK plugs so ill probably get them from OTR down near my area, not sure on price at this stage but ill find out haha
who wouldn't love spoon but sadly its over my budget like most other spoon parts :(

why go through OTR for leads man? they have to order in and everything and will take a big cut. just go to bursons down the road from OTR lol they should have them in stock for same or lower price than otr

Stick to OEM if there's nothing wrong. NGK are good.

Used to have Bosch on my dad's Tickford 4.0 inline 6, didn't rate them tbh. We ended up just getting some custom made by an ignition shop and they seem to run a lot better.

Read quite a few negative experiences with TopGun but not one with NGK or oem honda.
From not holding onto plug properly to the top connectors falling apart.

Anyone know where TopGun are made?

you can get the car serviced and just plug the new leads in when you receive them.

takes less than 5 mins.

^exactly that dude they're probably the most accessible things in the engine bay.

fair enough, i could give it a try :)

but the thing is id prefer to get everything done at the one time, just a personal thing..
so having said that, would Bursons $119 be my best bet at this stage?

charliebrown
22-03-2012, 11:34 PM
Yeah if you wanna just get it over with then pay that little bit extra and get from bursons. Or call SCA/repco/autobarn and get cheapest, will still around same price unless one of the stores has a sale on it

If you want it all done at once drop your car off for service and then when you get it back put the leads in, in te car park... Will take 5 mins
