i was wondering if anyone had any ideas to fix the suspension on a EH rear sedan

the problem is when i have 3 people sitting at the back (people are skinny about 50kg avg)

the car is too low as if the the tyres are going to get rubbed

i'm on 205/50 r16 also rubbed when i had 165/60r14

unsure if it's the springs or shocks or anything else only the rears go down

the front is fine

help please?

Is the car lowered?

car is not lowered

yes i believe rear suspension is orginal

just want the rear to be stiff so when there's a full load it doesn't lower to the point the top of the wheels are rubbing and the exhaust doesn't look like it's going to scrape the speed humps

Sounds like you need new shocks. That should fix the problem.

thanx i'll get new shocks

but springs? would they make a difference or the stock ones still retain the stiffness they have?

don't wana have same problem after install new shocks lol

which shocks do recommend? it's just a daily

kyb gr-2? monroe gt? skunk2? pedders? tokico? mookeeh mk1? any other brands?

i know the ones i mentioned are stiffer then oem unsure which one cause this is first time replacing shocks

shocks won't fix the problem.

new springs fix the problem more than new shocks in this case.

get both would be preferable.

Shocks dampen out the bumps, the springs hold you on your height.

Stiffer springs will be very uncomfortable for rear passengers but that's kinda too bad. 6kg stiffness or less at the rear for comfort.

I recommend Bilstein or KYB shocks. Maybe Koni

I have a set of mint condition OEM shocks + springs if you need them. Cheap, otherwise I'm gonna throw it with the wreck. PM me if you want.

If ur goin new springs + shocks, might as well go for kings lows with KYB shocks Or Tokico, no point in goin back to stock, improve the handling and ride both at same time :D

KYB is my vote, with tein H-tech......

Most aftermarket springs are only designed for lowering slighty with performance... reason behind it might be to lower the centre of gravity.

You will find that the shocks have been leaking for a period of time and no longer have enough oil in them to hold pressure under any sort of load.

Depending on how long the car has been like this, you may not need to replace springs. I would start with replacing shocks first with either KYB or Monroe and see how you go from there.

If the car is still sitting fairly low and you are scrapping after replacing shocks, then look into springs

Considering you have to pull the rear struts apart to do either shocks or springs you might aswell do the lot - std height kings will do the job, $120 per pair...

Unless you are doing all four, don't put lowered springs in the rear - car will look stupid and still be very low when people are on board.

Quick thing to remember - Springs hold the weight, shocks control the way the weight moves around.

sweet stuff i'll purchase them before the easter break havn't got time to install them

i'm going to go for a complete set of 4 springs so it's an even balance.

how much for the fronts too?

top stuff i'll get in contact before easter break.

i'm really convinced it's just the springs loss of stiffness

shocks have no leak and no signs of it being bad

If the shocks are original then there is a good chance that they aren't doing much to help things - even though hondas are good your car is heading towards 20years old and no shock will last that long. If you can afford it you should look at doing the shocks at the same time so you save money on labour.

i'll be doing the labour :)

shocks and springs together are quite pricey same price as buying coil overs with springs

senna

KYB Shocks & King Springs $790 or Coilovers $1000+

The extra spent on coilovers won't be worth it in your case since you want std height - generally coilovers don't work well at factory ride height since they are designed for racing purposes and lower ride heights.

i've sourced the shocks/coilovers for a much lesser price but i will definately get the king springs from you later.

i won't be getting any coilovers, just shocks.

thanks for the info though very helpful!

i might start a diy thread with pics as a side project incase anyone has trouble finding info on how it's done.
