fuel gauge is playing up

hi my fuel gauge 96 ek civic goes down some times after i fill it up but then comes back up for example i have half tank it will go down then go back up any help how to fix this?

Could be a few things.

Maybe its an electrical fault in the sender, maybe the float is filling up with fuel.

You'll need to pull it out and inspect it.

Or it could be an electrical fault on the gauge end.

Only real way to figure it out is process of elimination.
