Bought the car back in october 2008 for 6k with 137,500kms.
Motor is currently a D15b7 but looking into getting a B18c :thumbsup:

thanx timmy! got GAB ha series coilovers (shit brand but comfortable for coilovers) , rears didnt fit so i got ITR lower control arms so they will fit because the O fittings

as for the chassis i want the eh9 ferio spoiler which is more flush to the boot and EK9 side skirts

maybe ill piece together a mod list

getting the motor swapped out soon! due to a snapped timing belt which screwed my valves

the chick i bought it off said it had a major service just before i bought it (she got it serviced every 6 months) so i was waiting to drive it around 90,000kms them swap the belt.. but it snapped when i hit 185,000km on the clock which is only about 50,000kms after its "major service".. so im guessing she didnt get the belt changed then lol....

I'm guessing she probably didnt have the timing belt service logged in the cars logbook, in which case yes she was most likely just saying anything lol. fkn bitches. :P

anyway, after this information and other information gathered over time, I conclude that timing belts should last 150k then blow.

hence the 100k 2/3 lifespan change interval.

all this considering normal driving without too much high rev and hard driving.

When my d15 blew i swaped it for a d16a8 straight swap u can use same mounts wiring gear box etc just diff ecu. cost the same as a d15 but a bit more power

should ALWAYS put ALL nuts and bolts in sandwhich bags/sealed bags with labels as to where you got them from.

also don't need a block and tackle as the engine can come straight out the bottom onto a crate.

check out my build (as suggested on facebook) for how to remove the crank pulley!

question: why are you removing it? isnt that engine gone anyway? or are you looking to put a new timing belt on your new engine?

don't buy a new car because of this man, stay strong, you've only just started! I got frustrated with my crank pulley, even hit myself in the face with a hug pole trying to remove the darn thing but i didn't give up and sell.

i have 97% of bolts back in where they came from so i dont miss place them but theres afew on my garage floor, ill figure out where they came from sooner or later

and i removed the engine from underneath, i need it because my new engine didnt come with a crank pulley and plus ill replace the timing belt while im at it

ahh both my DC2 and EG4 had that issue when I got them. you can get the thermostat at your work, its a stocked item. however do NOT get tridons gasket, get a DTG35 dayco gasket from repco for $5 as it is the correct part and not some POS "O" ring.

If you get around the pits ok maybe remove the light, it's probably better to be more subtle with external modifications if police see a green tail light as "LOOK I'M AN ILLEGALLY MODIFIED VEHICLE!!" haha.

moving the springbase lower to bring the ride height down will not make the springs sloppy.. you shouldn't notice much difference in spring response unless you have them squeezed really tight at the moment, which would be REALLY hard on the road.

before coilovers had the adjustable base that was how they adjusted the ride height. when you think about it, even if when you hold the coilover in your hands, if the spring looks longer, or is a little loose between the base and top, the spring will compress the same amount as before when it's under the cars weight, regardless.

Yes you bring it down to lower the car and once the cars weight is on top it won't be a problem, just adjust the dampers accordingly. The spring will compress to a certain point under the cars weight and its the same either way. I'm doing my best to explain this in relatively simple terms but its difficult lol.

If you are rebuilding for boost make sure to use forged low comp pistons, forged rods and upgrade the valvesprings and retainers.

it took me like 4-5 days but i did rear disk conversion,swaybar, d16y1 vtec conversion and a few other things in one hit lol. tbh just the manual conversion should have taken me maybe 1-2days.

u dont need to block off the radiator just let all the oil drain out of the bottom to feeds. you need to buy mounts no matter what as u need the aftermarket auto to manual upper mount or your motor will sit on a angle

i guess you could get good mounts sooner, but are u still intending to b swap? dont waste money i recon just get stock ones (i might have one?). as for blocking off the trans cooling line ok you dont have too its just good practice. as fo the flywheel cover im sure the wreckers will have one

all i ment was that IF your gonna be pulling the engine and gearbox out it would be worth while doing all of this at once to save having to pull it again later. and yes if he turboed a d it would be faster but if he had a d then turboed that the b would be faster or he could sell it and buy a VL turbo and that would be faster but its not about making the fastest car.. the only reason im asking about the B is last time ian and i spoke he seemed really keen on doing the swap but havent heard much since, dont want cha to think u cant do it.

Turned from h series because there's not that much aftermarket gear compared to others. I came across a b20 for a goooood price so yeah I'm not going to let that opportunity slip as it has everything I need as well. But if that fails i dunno I'll just wait till I come across another good deal, I'm not in any rush :)
