Hi guys,
What happens if you have full comprehensive insurance and have an accident at the track?
Obviously it isn't covered at the track, but can you simply claim it happened elsewhere so that they pay for damages?

The reason I asked was because someone told me if the car cannot be driven away from an accident, the police have to come.
And, if you have no police report, insurance will not pay.
Any truth to this? And simply out of curiosity, ways around this?

I think this topics gonna put you in lots of trouble, obviously you can take your car away and make a claim. If you get caught then you're in deepsh*t

they usually tow your car off the track, just get them to tow it outside onto the street with or without both damaged cars... thats if you or the other vehicle is damaged too
but you could get diked like this guy when someone rolled their shitter into his brand new GTR and he is left with nothing as the insurance company sussed it out heaps

I believe Shannons can offer track day insurance - but its really expensive and not worth it unless you owe alot of money on the car or its an exotic that is worth the investment.
Also, i "believe" that the police example you are talking about is only applicable when there is another party involved and there are injuries or if there is significant property damage...

If your new to the track, just be sensible and t-a-k-e i-t e-a-s-y.
Also, get some seat time with an instructor first.
The only damage that should come out of a track-day is your brake-pads, tyres and wallet.

Do people get a talk about how to drive out there?
Personally I would take it easy (not trying to set track records) but I am worried some stupid kid in some RWD Nissan will spin out on me

You are not covered for property or personal injury on the track...

what a question by the OP.
Find out ways to do the dodgy.
How about reading up on a few Track preparation hints.

And take it easy if its your first time on the track. Instead of finding way to scam the insurance system.

I remember reading somewhere that before they demolished it, the road outside Oran Park raceway was the site of the most single car crashes in NSW. If you know what I mean lol.

Don't dive bomb them then.
People go to the track to try, most people say not setting records or anything, but fact is, everyone is trying, some are trying harder than others.
Onus is always on the car behind to keep a good distance / overtake safely from the car in front. Sometimes even experienced trackies forget that especially when ego kicks in.

I feel safer out there too! just gotta keep an eye on your mirrors, if you spin out don't just drive back onto the track etc and make room for error from the car in front of you, it is fun tailing someone until they lose it and then its just risky.

I'm totally clueless here, having never ben to a track day yet. BUT!
I think this much is common sense.
1. Take it easy.
2. Don't get more confidant, untill you get more competent.
3. Don't risk it, unless you can afford to lose it.

yeh we all say we're there to have fun but when your ego kicks in you'll push your car.
example: you ego kicks in. you then decide to chase down the guy infront of you, he gets nervous stuffs up and you go right into him.
best way: ego kicks in. you can have fun tailing someone but leave room for mistakes. or even wait for a good straight also then overtake or get him on a corner. or maybe if the person infront of you lets u go infront.
comes down to both parties i think.
when tracking no matter if you got full comp or whatever it does not exist.
dont try and pull a dodgy as it will bite you in the end.
ALWAYs take notice of what is around you. if there's someone up ur ass then let him thru.
i feel much more safer on track than the road.
to me i guess it depends on which car club track event you go with. some clubs are really strict some aint.
even i been chase down on the bends on track. simple just let them go. there's no point trying to battle with him as your not gonna get a trophy at the end of it.
just do your laps and hope for improvement.
have fun and be safe

Can be very frustrating to be held up by bigger slower cars in the twisty, only to be smoked down the straight. Often its best to back off for a 1/2 a lap and give yourself some breathing room.
First time at the track I had a hard time balancing trying to out braking everybody and not running into the back of them. I now deliberately brake on the outside line when chasing somebody down so that a lockup and rearend accident is all but eliminated.

I agree It's VERY frustrating getting caught up in the bends and lap after lap them gunning it on the straight, v8's are famous for this tactic!
I find alot of the time this is when mistakes are made, you get over the car in front holding you up and getting slower laptimes despite being faster on the straight and doing that all day without moving because they don't want to be overtaken by a smaller less powerful car, so you overtake them on a corner or something.
I've overtaken someone before with this situation then went sideways off the track because I over shot it, I simply made sure I was out of there way and got back on the track after they went past, you just have to be AWARE!
