Hey,

Just realised that my antenna doesn't go up when i turn the radio on. How likely is the problem that the motor has died? Is there anything else i can check?

How much is a motor going to set me back?

Has this happened the whole time you have had the car or only just started?
Aftermarket headunit?

Might just be the power antenna wire isnt hooked up. had a mate who thought his antenna was broken and it was just the previous owned didnt hook up the power ant wire when they replaced the headunit.

fairly easy to check, find a wiring diagram for integra then just pull the deck out and see if the power antenna wire is connected.

does it still get reception?

maybe the antenna motor itself is broken

did you replace the HU or did it come like that with the car

You need to take off that left 3/4 interior panel, and check all the connections.
You need to check the connections behind the head unit, like TbM has said, the power antenna wire.
If both are ok, check of you got 12v going to the power antenna itself, by using a test light or multimeter on the plug going into the antenna.

do post back with results to help others.

When I bought mine, the antenna had been unplugged from the aftermarket headunit because the motor was on its way out and the previous owner hated the crunching. Funny how we forget to check the small, yet commonly used parts (such as a radio antenna). I ended up buying a new mast which fixed the problem but it would go up whenever the headunit was on, which annoyed me because I never listen to radio, only USB input. So I unplugged it myself :P

EDIT: Just thought I'd let you know that getting a new mast from USA was only like $20 posted from ebay (from memory).

If it goes up whenever the Hu is on then whoever hooked up the Hu didnt wire up the Power antenna wire properly, probably just wired it to remote or Acc. Antenna should only come up when tuner/radio is selected as a source.

Yep I just bought myself a new mast, US21 posted from ebay.

I think your best option if the antenna motor is broken will be to buy one of the s2k style shark antennas (have a look on ebay). I'm sure a new motor from Honda will be horrendously expensive and buying second hand will be risky. The majority of antennas I've seen on dc2s either don't go all the way down or make horrible noises when moving.

Happened to me, didnt bother to find problem. Replaced it with an s2000 antenna.

Bought from here: http://www.locustom.com/shark2_kit.htm

Followed this installation guide: http://www.team-integra.net/forum/blogs/morningz/232-s2000-shark-antenna-installation.html
