Hi Everyone,

I'll be upfront from the get-go...I have registered on here as my son (19yrs old), has just written off his 1998 Honda Civic EJ Coupe, and I am trying to get a feel of how much a wrecked vehilce is worth. It was his first car. I have photo's to post, but as I don't own the car myself, I am not allowed to advertise it on this forum.

To me the damage doesn't look too bad, but the repair cost would exceed the value of the car. My son says that it's a rare car, but I don't know Honda's at all, so I cannot comment on this point. Most of the damage is on the front left, and radiator area.

I would greatly appreciate any input here.

Please PM me for photo's. Car is located in northern suburbs of Brisbane.

Due to the Forum rules, this thread will probably be closed.

I'm sure everyone would agree that it is worth while parting out - this can be a time consuming exercise but it will reap the biggest benefit.

List the wreck on Gumtree, i had great success selling an old car on there earlier this year.

Oh, by the way was your son injured? Airbags go off?

Yeah, thanks, senna. My son had a mild concussion. Airbags deployed but failed to inflate. Which is kind of interesting really, as I recently bought a 2nd-hand ute, and on reading the manual, it said that the airbags need to be replaced every 15yrs as the propellant/inflatant??? can't be guaranteed to work within specification. Being a 14yr old Honda, there might be some credence to this. Does the Honda owners manual say anything about replacement of the airbags?

Interesting...I've never heard of having to replace an airbag before!
