Ive seen these mini pod filters before that are probably like 7cms long? what are they used for? and are they beneficial for the car? or it doesnt change anything except for engine bay aesthetics lol

You mean these? Theyre for individual throttle bodys to cover the ramtubes usually

I think you're thinking of the ones to replace breather tubes.. kinda pointless IMO.

Isnt it illegal to run the breathers venting to atmosphere with a filter?
Thought they had to go back into the intake for emissions.

^correcto!

Breathers tubes are there for crank case ventilation - any piston ring blowby needs to be vented somewhere or your engine will burst at the seams.. so the breather tubes are there to run that air back through the intake manifold.

Sticking a mini pod there allows it go to atmosphere and pollute.

every motor has a positive crank case ventilation valve that vents back into the intake pipe.

yeah also kills performance of your engine, and leaves you with a shitty gunked up intake and gummy throttle body.. :]

i took my TB off just recently after 9 yrs of owning the car its never been removed, and it was clean no oily or gooey bits.

however having the crank breath into the engine bay rather than the air intake is definately illegal ( as stated) but also attracts dust and shit toward the engine due to the oil now condensing over the engine bay.

the PCV tube goes after the throttle body so ti wouldn't gum it up

on my car the crank breather goes into the intake before the TB so it would.
however it would be so unnoticable, would take MANY! years
