Possibly writ off my Prelude the other day , tyre popped at high speeds :( insurance will tell me if its a write off or not next week.

Just need advice on Civic engine swaps. I wana put my h22 engine in one.
Any advice will be much appreciate right now!

What do I need to look at when buying a civic, options etc?
I want the lightest civic possible. Eg?
Is it very costly to do a h22 swap ?

Lots and lots of info out there already.

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&redir_esc=&client=ms-android-google&source=android-browser-type&v=141257829&qsubts=1334406438662&action=devloc&q=eg+civic+h22+swap

Basically. Yes it'll go straight in. There is aftermarket mounts available for it.

Will go in but not the easiest swap to do
H22 engine prices aren't that bad either
Easier if the civic you buy is fuel injected not carby

So no carbys. I wont be doing the swap myself i wana get it done legit and through the rta. If the Engine wasn't touched from the hit but the car is a write off because repairs cost more than the value of the car can I still use the engine !?

you will have to buy the wreck back from the insurance company

if you get paid out

Well said :) that's what I was saying above

And op, it can be carby but will cost you more as its more work
Fuel injected is alot simpler

you wont be able to re register the car again, as itll be a registered write off. If its not actually registered as a write off, then yes youll be able to rego it again. But if its a write off, itll be too much mucking around to fix.

As for the engine, you can reuse that no matter what

How many kws is he expecting honda4 ?

Trism, the guy that came and towed my car away told me there's a new law with Rego write-offs. If the car is 15+ years old it can be registered as a write off .. I find it hard to believe but the guy sounded convincing since his been in the business for 14 years ! Can't figure out if its true or not though

Yeah I think that's correct. If its older than 15 years old, and you buy the wreck back off the insurance company you can chose if you want it listed as a write off or not.

They just called, it's a write-off and it can be re-registered. I got $4000 to either fix it or buy a civic and drop the engine in it. Problem is what am I gona do with the prelude shell .. Takes way too long to sell as parts

How much do you reckon that's worth ^ it's got a b18cr exhaust , don't think that could bolt onto a h22 but he insisted it can ..

list the wreck here and on preludeaustralia and i'm sure people will want bits. DOn't think you'll get much though

Manual for sure but does it have to be a vti ?

Found this gli http://m.gumtree.com.au/honda-civic-shell-type-r-modifications-ready-for-build/v?adId=1000461614
But it will need mods to fit type r headers

Won't matter if you buy a manual or auto EG. Your H22A will use shift cables instead so you have to change the whole trans setup. Unless you're going for resale possibilities, then go for it.

When you buy the engine, make sure you have the engine side loom with the resistor box for the peak and hold injectors. If you buy an EG VTi, then it's no problem as you won't have to wire up the O2 sensor. But, you will need to run new pins/wires out of the ECU for the 4 wire O2 sensor as the EGs use a single wire O2.

Have your pick of mounts. Hasport is most people's choice these days. Otherwise there's Explicit, Avid, eGay (not recommended)...more but I cbf finding them for you.

Axels. Again, there are reputable companies who make swap axels. Otherwise you can mix and match.

AC and PS can be kept. Just buy the right mounts. Innovative (here's another maker of swap mounts) make relocation/AC mounts. You can use an MR2 electric PS pump so save space too.

I don't know if I forgot anything. Ask away, other use the google magic.

Manual and auto chassy brackets are diferent in eg. Having sed that the aftermarket mouts for h22 cpuld be a straight bolt up

With the tri post mounts, it won't matter. Like you said as it's a H22A it won't make a diff.

.

it matters, your got auto cluster, you dont hav clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal plus you hav to upgrde to manual brake pedal.
there might be other things also need to add on

4k Won't cover a h2b swap.
S80 transmission alone is gonna be 500-1000, adapter plate 700-1000, mounts 500-800, H swap driveshafts 400-600 (Even using the mix and match OEM honda driveshafts is gonna be 100-200).

If you want the swap done professionally talk to benson from BYP, it's not going to be cheap but regardless of what you supply/do.

My response was mainly referring to the fitment of the engine and mounts. But I get where you're going with that.
