Hey guys,

I have two questions about HID kit for a dc2r with jdm front conversion

1. http://aponline.com.au/product.php?productid=16184&cat=0&page=1&featured
I'm planning to buy autoplatonium HID kit from this link. Has anyone used this product before or do you have any better hid kit to recommend me?

2. I'm not sure of the globe size in jdm head light in my teg.. is it H1 or H4 or else?

really hope to get some info about these
thanks!

I'm not too sure as i bought it as it was from previous owner

even if it may have come with stock HID, at the moment i can barely see the road in front when dark...

only the 98 spec came with HID from the factory

If this is a factory hid kit, do i just have to buy a brighter bulb with same size? (thinking of getting 6000k bulbs)

DTN

that looks just like standard bulbs. The factory hids has ballast behind it like this

The ukdm integras had HID'S that have a motor and switcj to adjust them. technically legal in aus.

No defects!!!

If he is using the same thing that came it OEM, sure.. May be legal.. But if he puts an aftermarket HID kit on it.. Than no, it's not legal.

It's got more of a chance being hypothetically legal rather than technically.

Just dont buy from eBay and you'll be fine lol

Heres some other links:
http://www.skreem.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=Xenon <- has pickup for sydney

http://www.xenonoz.com/products.php

Just give a google.. look for a sydney seller so u dont have warranty issues. Anything from the net is annoying to claim warranty on if there local though.. just makes your life easier. HID's are great but some cars just dont seem to like them from what i see.. Honda CRX, tried several different ones on multiple crx's. THEY all had issues, flickers, startup issues, radio buzzing, one not turning on -.- (most common).

I've been using hid's for like 5 years with no defects
It's called a stealth hid install, and even when I have had the ballast in view, still no defects.
I have never had a cop pop my bonnet or any mates ones for that matter

This. I never have any problems.

But OT, the xenon xtreme ones are fine I got mine done a couple weeks back, they're a massive improvement over the crappy ones I had in my car.
Or even the Brillante one (http://maxvisionaus.blogspot.com.au/2010/09/how-does-our-hid-kit-look-like.html) are fine, I swear they're the same as the xenon xtreme ones just re-branded. And they're cheaper. ($55 instead of $70)

Like i said they came OEM in UK - Therefore legal. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the main reason HID kits are illegal is because they cannot be adjusted?
Of course if he puts aftermarket HID's in it's illegal!!

Another reason they are illegal is that the standard reflectors are not designed for the HID light pattern. As a result the lights spread everywhere, potentially blinding oncoming traffic. If you have good projector lenses the effects are not as bad as having "normal" lenses.

I had a lot of faulty Xenon Xtreme kits come to me for a new set. Got a guy here last week with a wrx, he told me the guy replaced him once and then he started to blame on the car and refused to replace him under warranty.

I know andrew personally and this is not the case, dont go around talking shet just to get customers.
I know for a fact that he WILL replace the kit or find the problem and tell you. ive actually heard shet loads of stories about your business which i will not bother commenting on. The fact that your slagging the competition online says alot about your business ethics.

Don't buy anything from Autoplatonium on ebay. Bought some standard bulbs but white-coloured for my dc2. Got them and one was faulty. Sent three emails and got a reply a week later. He sent out replacement ones but he sent B3 instead of B4 bulbs. Not worth dealing with.

This whole thread is retarded. HIDs don't even belong in DC2s. Just get HIRs and call it a day.

the tint on the bulb that make your lights looks white/blue is the culprit.
its the same as dark tint you would apply on the windows = to cut light transmission.
get a bulb without coating or even HIR like the above said and you will see a lot better in the dark.

You can buy any HID for your car. It's up to you how much your willing to put out on the output. If your obviously asking people then your not looking for much then flash im guessing. Nothing more than 6000k IMO. ANything more will just be hazardous. 4300K i reckon would be just right. 6000k has slight blue tinge but meh it all depends on what you want it to look like and hwo much you have.

I'm possibly twice the age of some of the posters in this thread and I can see fine in the dark with stock lights :D

Or are HIDs just the new bling?

Leee

its been quite awhile now since i posted this and since then, i got a new set of HB4 lights and no HIDs
I didnt even know about HIRs till now and ill probably look that up too.
and @Setanta Im not sure if its because of the jdm head lights but i really cant see well at night even compared to my previous car, camry :(

Or are HIDs just the new bling?Yep. There is absolutely no reason that anybody needs brighter headlights than stock. They just want to be noticed.
