Hi Guys, i just bought this scoopon voucher for an engine oil and filter change with goodyear for $29

But they said theyre going to use a semi synthetic Valvoline oil
My car is 39000kms atm, so clearly i should be using fully synthetic
Im going to BYO my oil. Any reccomendations? And how many litres do I need?

Im just gunna buy whats available from this list:
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/oils-lubes/engine-oils/synthetic-oils.aspx?id=10013&articleType=Full%20Synthetic%20Engine%20Oil&variant1=5%20Litre

because i dont have time to visit a physical store.

I read aarong's post regarding viscosity here:
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?111717-CU2-engine-oil&p=2239834&viewfull=1#post2239834

but other than that, i dunno what to get?
Im tossing between:

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Nulon-Long-Life-Engine-Oil-5W-30-5-Litre.aspx?pid=286594&menuFrom=10013

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Valvoline-Synpower-Engine-Oil-5W-40-5-Litre.aspx?pid=100341&menuFrom=10013

Also ive owned the car for about 4 years and i think its time to change brake pads. Which ones should i get? I have never bought brakes before.
Cheaper is better

suggestions? corrections? cheaper sources? leave comments below, as it might be useful for other euro owners

Thanks :)

Heard good things about Nulon oils but haven't used them myself.

Penrite is now fully synthetic, they use Caltex base oil IIRC which should be the same base oil as the Honda FEO Ultra, and it's cheap.
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Penrite-HPR-5-Engine-Oil-5W-40-5-Litre.aspx?pid=14911#Description

Else you could try the Nulon long life, be mindful the OEM/OEM replacement filter wont have the capacity to last as long as the oil however.

else.... you could get some REdline shipped to your door from the states for cheap

Brake pads:
don't cheap out on brake pads, Remas is good performance pad (from what Ive heard), Bendix for everyday driving, and low-ish dust (ring around for prices on bendix, they could differ up to 30%!! one of the big auto store's, cant remember which, sells to public @ trade prices)

to add to that, I just installed them a week back (oh and its Remsa :) ). Though I haven't bedded them in properly yet, bite is better than stock I had before (expecting to get better once bedded properly). So far no squealing. Cant comment on dust at the moment. From what I researched they are not harsh on the rotors, which was imp to me. Cost 164$ for all four corners, though its for a CL9.

Just so you know I'm pretty sure with those group buy car services you don't get to BYO parts. They make their money upselling you the stuff you 'need' from the cheap service, at their inflated price. No such thing as a free lunch...

I will be using Amsoil in my Honda. I've been using Amsoil in our Mazda and Lexus.

Checkout www.amsoil.com

My Amsoil distributor in Sydney does free home or work delivery also on weekends.

Give him a call and chat with him on 0423-131-170

a buddy with a turbo TX3 laser switched from penrite to Amsoil and had gains across the board.

Better oil pressure and temp, more kays per tank, quieter motor.

And penrite isn't a shitty oil.

My friend introduced me to Amsoil. He has an XR6 Turbo daily driver which does consistent 10.8secs 1/4mile and he swears by it. He does 15,000km Amsoil oil changes.

The reason I switched to Amsoil is that I do alot of Km per year, so I needed an extended drain oil that can maintain the oil spec without breaking down. I also like the feeling that when I give it a bootful the oil is doing its job.

I also hate crawling under my car every 5000-7000 km, I rather do it at 15,000km or even 20,000km.

The Lexus has a cover under the engine bay and its a pain removing this plastic cover. There are like 16-20 self tapper screws that needs to be all undone before you can get to the oil filter and oil plug.

Lookup amazon, they got specials ATM on brake pads, akebono ceric for like$60 shipped.

As to oil, pick between 0w-30, 5w-30 and 0w-40, 5w-40, I recken Xw-30 is ideal.

If it fits a 2004 Acura TSX then it'll fit a 05euro I believe

well i just got back from super cheap
got 5L of Nulon 5w-30 for $49.95. had to go to 2 stores cause it was sold out. that popular!

asked about brake pads and they had the bendix brakes for RRP only -_-
for anyone interested the models are DB2118 for front and DB1953 for rear. I think its their General CT range
the rear had 2 models, but one was for AWD or something which is DB1728 (if u search their official site it will quote you this one by default)

I have no idea where to get it cheaper ><

Check if it fits a 2010 Acura TSX, if it's on the list you should be good.

Dont bother with K&N oil filter

Even Spoon are using oem on their race motors..so good enough for daily euro family car :)

i didnt notice the catalogue button the the size :P

actually now that i did a search...i just realised the ACT787 "set" is just for the fronts? so i need to buy the rears separately lame

$98.38 for front and rears delivered ($10 gift card)
so gay that amazon is like $10 more than the other sellers who wont ship internationally

thanks for the oil filter tip tho guys

Got the ProACT and they feel more or less the same as the stock pads I had. Wanted the "Performance" ASP787 & ASP537 from tirerack originally but they wanted some ridiculous amount for shipping so went with what amazon had.
Got them for the low dusting they supposedly had but was probably hoping for too much lol. Wheels still look black every time I come to wash my car.

Check the hawk range of pads.

Use tirerack.com or heeltoeauto.com

Love their site, hate their shipping charges.

How much has it gone up by? I always thought amazon was pretty static with their prices as a whole.

Lol Marcus wanted $21 to ship a $7 CT-Engineering decal....

Use tirerack.com or heeltoeauto.com

tirerack is more expensive than Amazon and they indicate that the stopping power of the akebonos are only 2 out of 5 of whatever measurement they use! WTFFFFFF thats crap!

and the hawk ones are expensive as

Heel toe auto rip you off via shipping all the time, so never buying from them

about 8 bux
trying to convince one of the US sellers to ship to australia lolz
funny thing is amazon lists them as international shippers but i cant check out with them

sorry to dig up old thread but i so realise that the accord cu2 brakes are larger than the ones in USA
how is the fitting of the ACT787 on our cu2?

seems like ebc from amazon UK also have replacement pads DP21999 front and DP21987 rear
