I got started on the Honda buzz when my older brother had his EG sedan. I have to admit i didn't know too much about cars at that stage but being a younger brother, i always looked upto him.

My first decent car was a DC2 VTI-R which i neglected badly. I ended up selling that car due to lack of care for it plus many minor unfortunate incidents.

My next car which i loved was a DC2R which had a JDM conversion. I had this car for 3 years servicing it regularly and really looking after it! Keeping it stock due to financial reasons. I am sad to say that i had to say goodbye to it today as it is getting written off because i had a small accident and the parts were too expensive for insurance to fix it...

I wouldn't mind getting another one, but people still ask for a bit of money for this vehicle. I would still love another R but am undecided on which one to go for with the budget i have. Any suggestions?

You can't decide what R you want?

There was only one R release in Australia, the DC2.

Up until the newer model FN2 and DC5, but it sounds like they are over your budget.

an EP3 wouldn't be too much over his budget ...

its a sign that you must move on from Honda, maybe its time for a high powered nissan or subaru or even the EVO's.

i thought the DC5R was an australian release aswell? i am getting paid out of insurer so the only R's that are out of my budget is the latest australian release CTR. i will be able to afford any other R. Am thinking between another DC2R, DC5R or an EP3R?
Besides looks Connorling, any specific reason for choosing the DC2R? i would love another one but just thinking about practicality also. the only clean stock DC2R's that are jdm or jdm converted are nearly as expensive as an EP3. plus they are older which means will need more maintenance $$$. If the newer R's are just as good performance wise, then i think i will go for the newer K series motor which should also have less K's done on it. i want the car to last a while (as long as i don't crash). so yeah just asking if there is any specific reason performance wise to go for another B18 DC2R?
and to emnesty i am also going to test drive Evo 5 and 6 to shut my brother up as he has an Evo 7. He's been hassling me to convert to Mitsu for ages now but i'm worried about petrol costs and maintenance costs being a turbo and all. i find he is at his mechanic a lot while i was never at mine in the 3 years i had my DC2R. although he has done a bit to his Evo so i'm not sure how reliable a stock evo would be?

maintanence on the evo is just like every other car out there... I came from an evo myself and it has been the best car i've owned yet. Never had any troubles, i was also at the workshop all the time. Not to get anything fixed, but to have a look at other parts, getting free tips and hanging out.

However modding the evo is another story, there is so many options out there and the $$ will rise up pretty quickly to.

Petrol wise, don't get an evo 7 as there tank is the smallest compared to the rest. but I still got a fair bit of km - 350km full tank.

you just cant talk about getting a nice car and worry about shit like petrol economy and maintenance costs

thats like getting an expensive suit and then complaining about having to dry clean and professionally iron it every month.

you pay for what you get.

WTF is a DC2R which had a JDM conversion

JDM B18CR engine conversion ?
JDM DC2R Front end conversion ?
JDM 36mm driveshaft 5 lug conversion ?
JDM DC2R 4-1 header conversion ?
JDM 16" DC2R wheels conversion ?

350kms out of a tank sucks. the honda will get 400+ for sure. my dc2r did. i think i am definitely getting turned off the turbo scene.
and giving the performance of the type r's, i find they are very good with fuel! nothing to complain about with that performance vehicle. im not sure how many performance vehicles there are that are as good on fuel as type r's
and to specify and answer your question tai, it was just a front end conversion.
