1514kg

Where did you get that figure from? Never seen 1514kg quoted anywhere.

Base model 6mt euro in standard trim is around 1390kg according to Honda brochure when I purchased my car (think I still have it somewhere). My recollection is luxury is around +40kg and auto +30kg.

The 05 models should weigh around 10kg more due to no space saver.

...

Update - just looked at the Euro brochure now on the Honda website - refers to base model at 1360kg and luxury at 1415kg. I doubt the new model is lighter (re my reference to old brochure above stating 1390kg for std)- but it is interesting to note they have lowered the reported weight.

Yeah, I know - but the 1514kg was in response to a question by speeder as to how much it weighs stock.

Vfin and 05 Euro owners:
Does 2005 euro come with full size alloy spare wheel? because I dont like the idea of space saver spare in my euro.

I don't see the problem with space saver - it is something you use so rarely (I have travelled 20,000ks on my Euro and have still not used mine). I would be more worried about run flat tyres and no spare - they are ridiculous - you can get stuck somewhere if you are travelling through the night or in the country, etc.

thanks EURO2005 for the info.
I still prefer full size alloy spare tyre, (1) you can do tyre rotation with it and get more milage out of your tyre set. I will assume HONDA have the tyre fitted so the spare wheel is for the left side, as left tyre always wear quicker than RHS, and L tyres have high chance of getting puncture. (2) a genuine Honda Full size alloy wheel and tyre will cost at least $600 plus for 17". so Honda has done good for 2005 plated owners.

I guess if you have aftermarket bigger rims, then any size of spare will do the job. Those Run flate tyres are too unreliable. The car will be out of action when the punctured tyre got repaired or changed. If I happend to own an Mini or BMW 1 series, I will have a spare wheel in the boot or on the roof. Unless I own a tyre shop my self.

I personally like the idea of run-flats, but never experienced them, but I know they cost an arm and a leg when replacing.

The idea is great - but recently BMW and some other car makers do not give you a spare at all and you must rely ONLY on the run flat.

What do you do if you need to travel more than 150kms after business hours?- (ie if you are travelling at night from Sydney to Canberra?) You will be stranded. You will not make the distance and you will be wishing you had a spare tyre - even a space saver. Sitting at the side of the road all night is not fun.

When criticised by motoring journalists for the decision to move to run flat only BMW said "BMW drivers tend to fly to their destination rather than drive" - meaning they will be close to the city security of a tyre repairer. What a load of crap.

totally agree its a total piss take to run flats if shit happens car makers shouldnt be aloud to do it especially BMW considering how much they charge for there cars...theres nothing wrong with space savers, i only wish it was an option to have either a full size alloy or space saver from so atleast its your choice i would go a space saver to save cash put the money saved on a mod or insurance
