hi everyone.

last nite i ran my stock s2k down the quarter for the first time.
managed to fit in 4 runs:

1st run: 15.24
2nd run: 15.54
3rd run: 15.04
4th run: 14.69 @ 153kph/95mph

did honda ever release official figures for s2k quarter mile?

I did 14.105 @100 mph at calder park ....mods air filter and custom catback.....
i think official figure is 14.5 ..... in japan BMI did 14.1 stock

Just wondering, they're pretty similar times to a ITR right? I was under the impression that an s2k was a rocket :D

and i was under the impression that an ITR could run consistent low-mid 14's and if youve worked your car high 13's. But yeh i also would of thought S2K had a bit more in it.

ok i dont claim to be the best driver, ive only had the s2k for a month or so and only launched it hard maybe once or twice cos ive heard many stories about RIP diffs and new ones costing thousands :(

anyways, brief summary as to wat i did/wat happened on each run:

1st run, launched at average rpms (maybe just under 7k) had a lil wheelspin, gripped then revs dropped below vtec (i f**ked up 1st/2nd change on this run, crunched a lil)

2nd launch, not enough throttle, let out clutch, revs dropped heaps, then took 'ages' to eventually hit redline

3rd launch pretty much same deal as 1st except i did perfect flat shift gear changes

4th run, i made sure the tyres got a lil damp, launched harder maybe 7.5k, a fair bit of wheelspin but i dont think revs dropped outta vtec at all (above 6k)

basically wat i noticed that nite is that the s2k in stock form doesnt have enough torque to combat the LSD/clutch/tyres and instead of spinning or riding clutch, the engine just bogs down.

next time i go i might consider launching at maybe 8000+ and see wat happens

It is a rocket, don't let those times fool you. hondaboy, no offence, those first 3 runs were shit. If it's your first time then its aight though...

7500rpm launch.. dude i think that's a bit high. you will end up breaking something.

i recommend a 6000rpm launch. much better

i wouldnt go as far as calling them rockets, they dont exactly drop down sub 13 quarters

yes those runs were shit man, even my last run wasnt anything special.
as i said ive only had the car for 4 weeks, havnt had much opportunity to f**k around with it.

if i launch at 6000 the revs drop down heaps, even with dropping the clutch

Bah, sif s2000's arnt fast... even a mid 14 run is very respectable...

Geez people there only 2.0L engines... They rev to all ****, but still 2.0L engines. Not much short of a turbocharged car, or a v8 will keep up with them, and a s2000 will chop all but the current generation of australian v8's in a streight line, you were putting down better times than motor did with the brand new $70,000 Falcon GTP 5.4L V8, so dont be to upset. Not to mention there comfort, looks, and finish.

Bah ill swap you anyday mate, the s2000 will be my next car, when they come down into the mid 20's whenever that is.

s2000 more like a track car.... and you cant really say that they are slow just by looking at their drag times...try to have a look at track times...
btw i know this 1 guy did 13.9 stock s2k with no cat ...btw 14.1 for me was my 1st time dragging, i launched at below 5500...

for all of you with S2k's that launch at or below 6k, does yours bog down?

http://teamintegrated.org/random/launch.AVI

cos it bogs down even at 7k launches :S

I used to launch at 6krpm with the stock setup. I did not get any bogging with the stock setup. Don't quote me on it but I don't think the car vtec at stationary.

What tyres, rims and clutch do you have?

andreqo

depend on the weather i say...that time was very cold... it affects so much....and try to slip the clutch lil bit instead of dropping it..

cos it bogs down even at 7k launches :S

do s2k's have traction control or something?

it does bog down a lot...! :P... but that means u gotta launch it harder hahah

my car wouldn't even move off the line at 7000rpm... just sit there bouncing off the limiter... :(

^ it sounds like you toasted your clutch
my mate did the same thing at 9krpm lol

a lot of pple recommended 7krpm clutch drop
6krpm worked for me so I did not put my car to that torture.....not that I did this very often when I had the stock clutch. You just have to drop it and floor the acc pedal and let the wheel brake loose.

Warning: the stock clutch is prone to accelerated wear with this style of driving.

nah i dont have an s2k, clutch is ok.. but no lsd + fwd + shitty tires = shitty launch traction

lol - the s2k isnt a quarter car..

pop it on the track with the ITR - that is if the ITR doesnt mind being lapped

ok, on the quarter mile track, my car does bog down heaps.

on the street it isnt too bad, if i launch at 7k or so, i get a bit of wheelspin, and the tailend gets quite happy

yesterday i took the s2k out for a bit of motorsport action (the track was just normal road surface)
i launched at 7000+rpm about 12 times over the course of the day and it spun everytime without bogging down.

my personal conclusion: on normal road surface it doesnt quite bog down, on a grippy drag track it does bog down.

ps. on the track yesterday i came 4th against a total of 20 cars, and i think mine was one of the few stock and NA rides:wave:

the right lane at kwinana on the night that we went was fully prepped, and the start line is sticky as hell, we went on a walk down there before they started racing and our shoes were literally sticking to the road, that could account for the bogging down you were talkin about

the S2K is best launched for best times at 8K :)

S2K is a track car (high revving, not so much low down torque), engine in its stock form is not built for quick 1/4 mile times unless u launch that bitch hard.

thats some good times...cant wait to see them improve with some minor mods! I love the is2000's....its a rev fest lol

The 1/4 is great fun, my first run in my stock calais that weighs a ton was 14.3 @ 98mph...
cant wait for a tune so i can get those mid 13's...

Wow
7.5 k launch
is that normal in a real wheel drive??
I can't believe it would still bogg at 7 grand
i rekon with my itr launched at 7 grand ill do 20 + to the 1/4 mile heheh
