With August fast approaching the top time attack teams from around the world are busy preparing for the big trip down under to see who is the worlds fastest. Our friends at Option 2 magazine have been busy behind the scenes checking out what’s happening and this month they visited Top Fuel and RE Amimeya.

The Top Fuel Honda S2000RR has undergone a full rebuild for WTAC and the team has now teamed with Voltex for some Super GT style aero that will see this car as a force to be reckoned with in August, bearing in mind how fast it was beforehand. Speaking with Tarzan Yamada last week he mentioned that if there is one car he thought this year was the “team to beat” this team could well be it as they have an “extremely potent combination that will suit the Eastern Creek layout and may surprise many people”.

RE Amimeya would also be entering as a “Favourite” as they bring a legacy with them as one of the worlds top rotary tuners and a Mazda race history that dates back well into the early 1970s. The “Hurricane time attack RX7″ was debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2010 and will be making its long awaited race debut in front of the eyes of the world at WTAC 2012 in front of thousands of eager Australian fans. They were busy getting many of the trick Super GT developed components to work on this car and both teams are due to test in the coming weeks… watch this space!
