Hey guys,
Yhe i know this thread has probably been posted countless times, but I just wanted to get an updated opinion.
Ive got an ep3r. Use it as my daily. Few mods including coilovers so I want some decent tyres to make the handling really stand out.
Will be going for 225/45/17 on stock wheel.
Currently thinking of:
- Yokohama S drives (Quoted around $270 aligned)
- Falken rt615k (Quoted around $390 aligned)
- Falken 452 (Quoted around $244 aligned)
rt615k is probably out of my price range as i dont use the car for track purposes and i dont want pay 1600 to wear my tyres as a daily.
Please, throw some suggestions of tyres you have tried and tyre size.
Cheers

Yep I have these in 215/40/17 for that price. I havent really pushed them or had much experience with them yet but they do break traction vtecing in 2nd gear in the wet :D

I`ve tried 2 sets of S drives. One set i bought brand new, the other set came with my ep, 215/45/17`s. They're pretty decent in the dry and wet when new. After about 6-8mths/10,000km the wet weather performance starts to drop off. They are quite good on wearing. Personally i think they're a little over priced for the tyre your getting. But then again its Yokohama. I`d pick them over other bridgestone street tyres. I`m currently running re001`s on the front stockies and there pretty average in both dry and wet.

Thing is they are now made in China (apparently) and heard there was quite a few issues with the bridgestones since they were made there now

If you want handling... KU31 won't do the car justice, minimum KU36 from the Kumho range. Same as Yokos S-Drive be the minimum but if you don't mind sacrificing some lifespan for outright grip, go for the marshmellow soft street tires like the AD08, RE11, Z1 Star Spec, etc. Depends on your take on grip v lifespan.

I got a set of Z1 star specs shipped from tirerack.com for just under 1K. They are an awesome tyre if you don't mind a slightly lower wear rating. And just so you know the tyres themselves only cost $150 ea and then it was about $250 for shipping, bloody cheap IMO

I think Bridgestone is doing a buy 4 tyres, pay for 3 deal right now until the end of may on their whole potenza range.
Again, it's up to a grip/lifespan compromise.
Heard the re002's are pretty great street tyres. Plus they look really nice :D
With RT615k and other tyres of the same class, be careful in the wet, specifically with standing water ;)
