Hey guys. My wheel size is 18inch, I've normally been putting 225/40/18's on it and I'm in need of tyres now. The price difference between 225 and 235 is about 200 cheaper, I've been told 235 for 18inch is more common so that's why it's cheaper, anyway.

Is there any disadvantages of running 235's from now on? I've been told the car will feel slower, how true is this?. I actually have 235's on the back now until I get a full set because it needed to be changes a.s.a.p due to camber wear and 235's look like they fill out the rim a lot better compared to 225's.

Opinions, cheers

Might look a bit plump on the sides walls though the difference in your case is small. If you can't tell from your rear wheels right now I doubt you'll have any issues with them at all.

As above, as long as clearance isn't an issue you will have no probs.

As for feeling slower....i doubt it - maybe if you went to a huge rolling diameter, but i wouldn't be worried about that

Yeah, you won't notice it. Depending on the width of your rim though, like I have 8.5 wide, so running 225 give a bit of stretch. Going 235 will mean there is none, which I prefer. Going from 225/40 to 235/40 means a 1.26% increase in wheel diameter, so you'll be traveling 1.26% faster than what you were before. Not much of a difference though. Extra width means more grip though, so slightly worse fuel consumption should be a given.

yeah, I assumed fuel consumption would be a little worse but I don't exactly drive it soft 24/7 ha.

Cheers guys.
