Guys,

Anyone know how much it costs to get a oil cooler installed on a B18C ?
I'm sure someone must have one installed before?

Please state the total cost and if you can recommend where in Melbourne I can get it installed.

Thanks in advance.

depends on the shop mate.
do you have the parts already? youre just looking for the cost of labour to install it? what about the oil filter, is it remote or sitting on a sandwich plate?

If its just a sandwich plate style one, then installation shouldn't be too much. Its a fairly easy job.

very easy, hardest part is virtually mounting the cooler. once done, take off oil filter (replace it) put sandwich plate on where oil filter goes, put new oil filter back on other end of sandwich plate..then just run the lines.
thats a very basic description, but there isnt too much more to it..

Remember to add some extra oil to account for the cooler.

It cools oil - by circulating oil through a Front or side mount FIN array thingy....

It shouldn't take more than 1.5hrs to install.
Greddy for B18C was done in 1.5hrs -

big red try Meridian Motorsport http://www.m-msport.com.au/

they have high quality billet sandwich plates, all different size coolers, superflow fittings and all types of braided/non-braided lines. so virtually make up your own kit depending on $$
btw they are in moorabin

I got my a while ago now.... so pricing is not current. The last guy to get one was jim80y and he installed it himself :D

greddy kit - I think was around 700 bux - not sure where he ordered it from though.
fitment is spot on :D

I installed it myself but I screwed up, didn't tighten the Sandwich plate bolt enough

If I had the right size socket though it would have been fairly straight forward though. The Greddy kit is great, everything bolt on and has everything you need. Got to test it out at Wakefield and it definitely helps, the car cools down very quickly (according to the oil temp gauge).

Hey Jim80y ... where did you get your kit from? and how much?

Does the kit include the remote filter relocation bits ?
i.e. so I can get to the oil filter more easily?

Thanks.

i looked over my invoice on the weekend of supply and fitting the oil cooler,
labour was 75 bucks (1 hour) and the oil hose plus hose fittings (clamps etc) was 280.
oil cooler cost me between 40 and 80 2nd hand (forgot exact amount) and the brand new alloy sandwich plate was 120.
that should give you a rough estimate.
where are you from? rare spare auto parts (i think thats the name) sells alot of Earl's parts.

im not sure if victoria has any rare spare auto parts shops but you can get oil cooler kits that are fairly OK priced.
you should go to import wreckers and find mitsubishi galant VR4 oil coolers or from AE92 toyota corollas. they are a good size to begin with.
