View Full Version : Engine Rebuild
hey guys i have a b18c2 engine with 250,000kms on it and i was wandering if there are any good places in brisbane for a engine rebuild. I would also like to know the average life span of the b18c2 km wise. thanks :)

Is there a particular reason as to why you want to rebuild your engine? eg: excessive oil consumption, possibility of a blown head gasket or cracked sleeve etc.
If there is nothing wrong, don't fix it. Before modifying your engine you need to sit down and think about what exactly you want from it and your car:
- are you chasing maximum kilowatts or are you after a responsive, usable power out put?
- do you want to stay n/a or go f/i?
- is it a street, track or drag car?
- how often does it get driven?
Once you have worked these things out, then it will be best to sit down and work out which way you need to go and modify accordingly.
There is no point throwing money at something that is not broken and, when it comes to mods, you don't know what you are going to achieve from it.

Honda is renown for its reliability. Look after the engine and it'll last long. Easily 250000km+

Easy 400,000+
You should never need to rebuild a Honda Motor unless it's for performance reasons.
nothing wrong with the engine atm, but it does have alot of kms so i was scared it could die. Sorry new to cars :) the car does get serviced every 10,000kms thanks for the info :)

So no oil consumption at the moment with those kms? If not, then leave it. If it aint broke, don't fix it. You will have another 200k km in it
If, down the track you notice you are starting to burn oil excessively then maybe look at doing a leak down/compression check to determine the cause. Then may be the time to rebuild with oversize pistons and/or rings and/or valve stem seals...heck when you are at it, build a high comp NA monster and CHOMP turbos on the track :)

Chomp them where exactly? For the first 2 seconds at the very start of the race when they're not in boost?

When their oil temp warms up half way through the race :)

This sounds word for word like something I posted previously in another thread

Just because a car is turboed doesn't mean its fast... nothing will go well without a proper base.

If the car has blown head gasket, do you replace & fit a new head gasket or you must rebuild head & bottom!?

and check the blocks surface with a straight edge so it's not warped
