Outer cv boot, minor leak at that stage, but boot seems to be cracking, will need replacing now or at least soon before it splits - Check other boots too
Price depends where you go, its about a couple of hours work, possibly more. So about 200+/-
The boot itself costs about $15.

yep, anyone can do it.

Buy the parts from Repco/Supercheap etc, and then ring up some mechanics asking for quotes on replacement of all CV boots, with parts supplied.

some times it can be cheaper to replace the whole drive shaft as there is less labour involved.

id agree with that about replacing the joint, but if its just the boot, its not so bad.

Any decent mechanic will have a CV boot banding tool, which pretty much just stretches them, so you dont even need to take the shaft out.

that looks like inner cv boot, near balancer.
is it closer to gearbox?

if diy youll need cv banding tool to tighten the metal 'bands' that comes in cv bootkit from bursons etc.
that leak looks like the boot was replaced and its wasnt tightened much.
seems like boot looks fine.

try diy it, youll learn a thing or two.

Yeah gearbox side the closest to the actual rim.. if you can give me any more direction as to what to do id be happy to give it a shot.

I've replaced 4x boots so far (steering rack and passenger cv) except for the driver side inner and outer cv.

Each boot was replaced for 60ish at hannys over the last year or so. I'll eventually get to the driver side before they start leaking.
