Hey guys

Just picked up my car from the body shop after almost 4 weeks and I'm not sure if things were done correctly.

Car : Honda Accord Euro Luxury 2006

Picture 1. Isn't there supposed to be padding or something? Does this look right ? (I really can't remember)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-lj6JC1y6_TQ/T6DJjepDniI/AAAAAAAAADQ/vknkxvKWlds/s912/photo%25282%2529.jpg

Picture 2: Is the plastic corner supposed to look like this? Isn't there a cover of some sort? I could have sworn there was some sort of cover type thing either all along or just at the corers/edges.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-njxCsiMlZg0/T6DJFeTGHGI/AAAAAAAAADI/6vuE0ig7wMc/s720/photo%25284%2529%2520copy.jpg

I don't want to go back to the shop to complain if it's how it is supposed to be, but I really can't remember if this is what it looked like before.

Can someone with the same car check it out and perhaps even take a picture if something is missing on mine so I can show the guys at the shop what's missing – if anything?

I've tried googling it, can't find any pictures that are very detailed.

whilst im not an accord owner, you can trust that your car will come back with missing screws, and clips.

i had my legend fixed and when i snooped around there, there was missing plug holes, and screws. when i enquired about it, they said "you just voided your warranty with us!" (smash repairer).

Hey, I just checked my car and it looks the same. You're not missing anything.

Thanks Nuggety!

I really appreciate you checking.

I was getting mixed responses from some other forums, some say it's not placed correctly, others say something looks wrong or missing...

They are already missing the part that covers the rain sensor and the metal/plastic part that covers the wire of the rear view mirror.

Can someone possible take pictures for me so I can just compare for myself please? I'm going back there for another gloss coat in 5 weeks and also Monday for another car...

I had another look but as it's dark I couldn't really see much, however I've noticed a few things.

Please excuse my car ignorance, I know nothing about cars so parts names and I are not friends.

I checked the windows, the black frame thing seems to be made of a very hard rubber material, not plastic from what I can tell. I do think they are lighter maybe even harder then they were? I'm not sure if this is even possible or just my imagination. One of my family members say it appears normal another says she thinks there was some sort of softer material or something, and I am inclined to agree with her. There was either some sort of rubber or padding, it looks "bare" especially in the corners and I remember it didn't look like this before. Also if you get really close, might not be visible on pictures but there is a white-ish line where the glue could have been.

I've taken pictures of all the windows and they all appear to be the same...

Now to the Scuttle or Plenum panel grill - i think it's called, I think the thin black plastic/rubbery part was not placed correctly. I looked at it just now and noticed that it's quite movable and there is a gap underneath, you can easy put fingers under and move it. I also believe that part is supposed to go over the corner of the plastic from which the water comes from for windshield wipers (I guess that part is called plenum panel grill?

I've taken more pictures, but it's dark out so I had to use flash on iPhone, hopefully it's visible a little...

This is the part that I think was not fitted correctly which some of you mentioned...

Elle,
if it cu2 i can check and tell you or take my car pic and posted here to compare. Why don't you go to a car yard or honda dealer in used car section and look for same 06 accord euro and compare the parts in few of the same euros in the car yard to makesure anything missing? i think this is the best way than compare with pics..

hope this help.

thanks

Hey thanks for the response.

I've looked for a car yard around but none seem to be selling honda's I even called the honda dealer nearest to me and he said they had no used honda euro's from '06. I can perhaps try and go round to another suburb about 20 min away where I know there are used car yards but I'm not sure if they sell honda's, honestly this is my first car and I bought it brand new so my knowledge of anything is very limited.

Do you think you could take a few pics for me and post here or send via PM? That way at least I might have something for a reference before I find another alternative.

Tranz, THANK YOU! I really appreciate the effort you took to take the pictures for me.

I was beginning to get super stressed, I really don't like dealing with such things because I get all worried and intimidated by the shop guys as they know everything and I know nothing.

So mine appears to be intact too then.

I went to Honda today and the guy at the service centre checked it out and he said it looks fine and that's how it should be placed, noting is missing...

I did open the boot today (they replaced the boot) and realised the carpet part of whatever that material is called on top of the boot is not even glued, it's just held by two clips or something, and it BANGS when you close it. The original boot door just needed to be tapped and it was closed, this one you actually have to put effort into closing...no padding or anything and the inside wasn't done right, the edges are sticking out instead of being pushed inside, so you can actually see the cuts...

Hey guys

here are the pictures I was talking about regarding the boot. I don't think that I'm mistaken here (of course could be) but even my mum said when I showed her the boot that it was nosier than it used to be, also when I press to open the boot with the key it unlocks but doesn't pop up like it used to (they did replace the boot) it feels a lot "lighter" and more prone to falling down but NOT closing. It used to be that all I had to was tap it and it was locked, this one I've got to slam it makes a loud noise then closes. Also issue with unlocking with key, sometimes I've got to press twice for it to open so not on the first try...

Don't know if you can tell anything from these pics, but it seems the (carpet-y thing I know car dumb here lol) wasn't placed correctly as you could see it sticking out

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Jzczuk-NU-w/T6JWwsT4qoI/AAAAAAAAAGw/xWjo6JaV1Ic/s720/photo%25281%2529.JPG

THIS is the carpet-y type thing I was talking about how it wasn't glued. I think there was padding before? It seems to have been cut or a new one has been placed... could it be so noisy because of this/ I tried to google honda accord euro boots but could not find any detailed pictures of these parts. See how it's cut? No padding? not glue? Is it even supposed to be like this?

Please don't laugh at me. I know I might be nit-picking at things that maybe don't matter, but it's my first car that I bought brand new, there's never been anything wrong with it, I've taken good care of it, and the hail damage was just dents so to have this whole transformation has been pretty stressing for me as I love my car and frankly can't afford to buy a brand new one now. and I've got no car junkies in my family so my knowledge is super limited and before making any complaint I want to be sure I have a right to complain...

Thanks for all your help.

hmm, the carpeting in your boot seems fine. Mine looks like that a bit. Like, the part where the carpet meets the rubber lining looks the same, just just have to push the carpet behind the rubber lining if it bothers you that much, otherwise it doesnt really move around or anything.

under your boot lid is how mine used to look before i went and put 3 layers of sound deadening. LOL. All it is, is the trunk lid carpet trim and held by like 7-or so push clips. theres no padding behind the carpet trim, just a few cables for the boot latch release.

the weight of your boot lid could be to how it was put on, how much it was tightened or something.

Elle

Is it expensive to put sound deadening? Is that to make it more quiet when diving?

So if it's too tight is it lighter or heavier?

Mine seems super light, but doesn't pop u when I press the button to open, it used to click and pop up, now just sort of opens, but stays down until I lift it up, and instead of just tapping it to close I have to slam it down.

TRaNz

oh, the whole sound deadening i did is because i decided to rearrange my boot and put audio equipment in for better and loud sound.....and no boot space. haha. The sound deadening just minimizes the rattles i get when music is playing loud.

im thinking maybe it needs to be tighter? so when the latch is opened the spring pops up the boot lid easier? Though the closing of it im unsure of.

Thanks for all the help Tranz! It does seem lighter. I'll go out again tomorrow and check. I don't know if checking the boot of a Honda Accord 2010 would help any, I have a relative with a honda accord (not the euro) maybe I can compare the boot closing/opening.
or perhaps I can post a video here, not sure if that would help, I guess it's best seen in real life.

The boot auto opening will start of sag over time, I remembered when my cars new the boot springs would almost open itself, now it just opens a little.
