Not sure if this is the right thread location..

I recently bought euro sport and needed a new rego so I took my car this afternoon to Nrma selfserve @ Sth. Stratty today for a quick pink slip. I thought it would be ok for pink slip and knowing its Nrma - they would take care of my car to my assumption.

They failed my pink slip inspection due to 4 tires measure under 1.5mm (they didn't measure it but just visual inspect). I measure it 3x when I got home - it was 2.1mm approx!! lowest was 1.6-1.7mm

What really pissed me off is I noticed Huge scrapes both sides right, left and a (some in the middle underneath) on my front lip..(10cm+ wide left side approx and 5cm wide right side and with 2cm height approx, not counting the bottom scrape) very noticeable with some paint crack on it.. its visible from 5m distance. Some scrathes on the door.. clear coat chipped too :(

Anyways, i made a complain to the service desk, and Yes they DENIED IT and I demanded to speak to the service guy to explain the incident but the guy in charge of the mechanic meet me instead, and also denied it. He said it was there before..(he didnt even inspect the car) and after inspecting it, he went inside for few minutes and took a paper to show me a scratch.. Like I'm stupid or something.. I saw the guy who did my car from the glass you can see the workshop.

I know it wasn't there coz I have a thorough inspection and I washed the car 2 days ago and gave it a good polish.

Well, I asked who is in charge and they told me to call the manager tomorrow.

My question is; has anyone experienced this before or any advice would be awesome.
I'm just so Pissed that they didn't even say sorry and treat me like its my fault!

Thanks guys.

You can report your complaint to consumer affairs but at the end of the day, you dont have proof that they damaged ur car.

Best thing to do first, is talk to the service centre manager and try sought something out. If that fails, then take your complaint to consumer affairs.

You just can't trust anyone anymore. Any time my car gets work, Im standing within 10m. Even the shop I trust the most, is still prone to small mistakes and I have to be there to witness things. But good luck bro and hopefully you get better results with the service manager.

No.. They just drove my car to the pit.. the guy was speeding.. and it concerned me.. hence I checked the car after paying the pinkslip.
They didn't inspect what so ever, i know this coz I kept on watching, except when they took the car for a spin and take it to the work shop.. I couldn't see it.

- on the card - when the service guy showed me, i did not see any marks on the car diagrams for inspection. He was showing me that I need to replace the tires all 4 and replace wiper for $65 each.

Negotiate. If that fails.

FU(K them up. Call Comsumer Affairs. Ombudsman. Whatever.

Dont let them get away with it.

Did you contact your insurer for advice?

But unfortunately as is all too often the situation in cases like this, it's going to be your word against theirs. You're at the mercy of their goodwill. Be persistent, but be nice. Getting angry at them is just going to make them tell you to bugger off. Talk to the manager about the staff member who allegedly damaged your car, you might be lucky and get the manager onside if this employee has a history of not taking care of customer cars.

As for your tires, yes if the lowest was 1.6mm they are technically legal as you say, but that is borderline, you really should replace them. It goes by minimum tread, so if the tire is worn down on one side but has tread on the other it's still defectable. I will not take risks when it comes to tires. Tires are cheap compared to your life.

Yeah, complain, start off being reasonable, if that fails, go aggressive. Unfortunately, there's not much you can argue with them about it. Even if you had taken HQ photo's before taking it it, as soon as you drove out of the shop, they could argue that you'ld damaged it on the way home. So your only hope is that they'll be kind and take up responsibility. As most mentioned above, try your luck with consumer affairs and the ombudsmen. If that fails, the best you can do is try going ACA (they might have something they could do to help you), post on every forum your on to warn of said place, print out leaflets with warnings and stand in front of their store and hand it out, post said printouts on local stores all round, hand them over to competing store in the local area, and basically ruin them or at least half their business.
