:eek::eek:hi guys.
pretty strange thing happened today... dont know its common or maybe just i haven't get used to the digital meter.
just fill up the tank with bp ultimate today. and i even put more in after the pump stopped.
then when i started my car...... two bars were gone already!
and after few minutes driving the two bars came back.
but after less than 2k drive, the first bar gone again. ...
also i know lots of city driving can affect the fuel consumption. but still i felt that my car is still a little bit high. i always fill up when there were 3-4 bars left. and a tank only can went around 280-300k...
wondering is that normal?:(:(:(:(

my car is 09 8gen civic 40 ann......

cheers

too many variables at play including your driving style; your driving environment. If concerned ask your honda dealer's service manager.

When the car is hit reserve or the light comes on it actually has 10L left out of the 50L tank. So if you're averaging 300km / 40L then you're getting 13.3L/100km which is a little high.

Several factors can affect it. Highway vs. city driving, leadfoot vs. grandma on the accelerator, whether you drive auto or manual. If you drive manual whether you're a shit driver and are always on the gas in too high a gear, like driving around everywhere in 3rd, instead of 4th or 5th gear.

So much to take into account

I believe acceleration is a big factor. My worst was 450k when the light came on and I put this down to using the 10% ethanol blend, the blend has less energy which changed my driving behaviour which is always moderate acceleration (not too light), using the blend made me accelerate hard and I wasted fuel (in that instance a good thing). I usually fill-up with tank at half but last fill I let the light come on, I had travelled 621k (41l). Other factors being I drive highway mostly (Canberra) and avoid peak-hours.
Not to get into a fuel debate but you're probably wasting your money with bp ultimate if that's 98 RON? Our model isn't a performance car, aim for 95. :)

Bang for buck is probably 95, have to agree.

The difference between E91 and 98 is noticeable. The car is much smoother on the higher octane, but is it 10c p/L better than 95? Probably not.

Oh yeah avoid 91 reg or blend, engine is so much smoother with 95. Ethanol blends are a false economy as a tank won't take you as far, plus it's bad for food security and therefore prices.

yep ..i actually agree with that. i had a thought to put 95, but have read many other threads said 98 ron also is good for engine.so i put 98 again.
also what am i concern is i have use 98 for more than 4 tanks, if i suddenly just put 95 in next tank. is there gonna be any harm for the engine?. also i think the ecu wont get to used to 95 as well.....
so headache.
i think my economy prob is because i m living in the city....also my travel time are all ''peak time'' thats why.......headache too.,...

thanks guys anyway...

BTW guys...
who bought parts from honda dealer?
i wanna change my front brake pads. just wondering how much would be......
also...if i want to buy EBC pads. any one have any idea what model would that be.
i have check the web but most of them are refer to the us/uk model of civic which got gx lx model... so bit confuse....

Nothing's wrong with switching between 95 and 98. All that happens is that your average fuel octane will be somewhere in between.
Truth of the matter is that 98 isn't always 98 RON, places like Shell have been known to have 'flat fuel'.

Fuel over time drops it octane naturally, so it's quite difficult for providers to guarantee an exact RON.

Our cars are tuned to take anything from 91 to 98 with a factor that some fuel will be lower than that. It's not going to break ur car, but over time the ethanol mix wont fair well on the engine.

cool.... personally i prefer bp than shell.... alot of my friends said that bp can run lot more than shell for a tank....
will prob to fill 95 next time...to see how it goes...

thanks with all your replies///

i bought the car from dealer on March.
the label says get service on 40k or may. but the car stay at dealers for a while. so its still 35k now..
should i just go for service? or just wait for 40k....
