Iv got a trust pod in the box with the top lid taken off because u can really hear the vtec cut in. I just want to know if it is better to leave the air box cover on or off? (performance wise)

ROFL... when you removed the your stock airbox cover to better "hear the vtec cut in", didn't you notice the intense lag in performance and pickup?

Just put the cover back, by refering the data from honda-tech, you'll use at least 3ps on wheel if you take the cover off, it does sound mad but for performance, it's bad.
if you have some spare time and have access to metal sheets, you can make your own air box, cost you about $50 only, my fd did it on his GTT and result is good, air-box large enough to fit any pod filter, heat resistant, could even make your own cold air suction pipe(2 recommended), he gain more power from low end to high end comparing with HKS pod, Apexi POD, stock replacement filter and even ARC box
I will try to find a pic for you so you'll know what i am talking about

What I did on my mates DC2 was to place the filter at the front of the car, just behind the front bar on the side, all we used was flexible hose from autobarn and a 4inch long piece of PVC pipe and some clamps fitted perfectly and sounds good! also great gains coz the filter is only sucking up nothing but cold air.
I shall see if I can post some pics looks very simple to do but hard to explain! lol

i had open pod then put it all back to standard with just a pipe running flush into the bottom of the box from front bumper. doesnt sound as good but feels better.
and your wheels are too big.

I always suspected having the box open would drop performance. Am i right to also assume that even if i swap the pod to a high flow i won't get the "sucking noise" and VTEC roar if the pod is still closed?
Also, what if i installed a Mugen Air box, any nice noise then?

a member recently put a mugen one on. apparently its quiet, and the sound amplifies like crazy in vtec
good gains too from mugen and looks stock:thumbsup: just costs an arm and a leg, possibly even ur head
