Wow long time no post on this forum...

Because I'm lazy being stuck on m5 traffic and the trusty civics engine has racked up a significant amount of kms I was wondering if this was possible.

An EK civic, engine transplant from the stock d16y5+auto tranny to anything from an Auto B18 to Auto K (not even sure if the whole assembly will fit?)
I know it can be done with manuals... but what about autos?

I mean Teggy VTiRs come in auto, so im sure the B18s in those fite, but mounts would be the issue right?
I know it sounds dumb but can it be done?

And please dont tell me to get another car.. because i already have one... and i love my civic ;)

yes you can.

not sure about mounts, you can just weld up custom ones.

coolios, thanks :)
sounds relatively straightforward then...
so they dont make dedicated auto mounts? hehehe

linkages, driveshafts, ecu? cluster change?

never seen an auto setup, can't really comment but yes for change cluster, ECU, shafts.

don't think auto uses linkages.

Auto uses cables. Personally I wouldn't bother

yeah, dont bother.

if you want something thatll bolt straight up, and have a bit more power, go a d16y8, SOHC vtec.

hey bro i just did the swap from d16y5 vti(cvt) to manual..u need to fabricate brackets..if u want ill take a photo of the bracket..i turn the gearbox mount upside down to bolt down two holes instead of bolting 1 bolt...thats the easiest way to do it...i also use my existing wiring harness..not an easy swap but can be done

even if u drop d16y8 it would be the same procedure.might as well go with b series..its all depend on your budget

didnt some ek b16a come in auto? don't know if we ever got them in aussie but if you can find one it'll be a pretty straightforward swap for you i'd imagine. just get a b18 bottom end and voila, 1.8 vtec auto! :D

heres something i found

Don't know why you would want an auto to auto conversion but im quite sure it's straight forward if it's the same engine, nonetheless change the mounts to new ones. Will save you in the long run.

+1, that way u can just reuse ur old gear box with zero hassle, d16Y1, Y4 and Y8 all are interchangable between each other with gearboxes, auto or manual so its one less thing to worry about, and all mounts are the same for all

doesnt matter which route you are going.u will still need to fabricate the bracket for the tranny side..being ek vti cvt tranny bracket are different from normal ek civic manual or auto..

thanks for the replies guys, yea the b16 auto had diff cams but yea.. hard to find one...

it had the cvt tranny but the tranny killed itself a while ago so its got the ek1 standard auto in it.
did the cluster swap as well.
its pretty gutless actually but does the job - ish.
i jus want a little more but yea doubt itd be worth getting anything extra with the amount of money itll cost.
yea i dunno which way i go jus doing some research...
