I have just stripped my d16A8 and its bare, i am building a new engine so i can rebuild the ZC, so this will be my development engine.
I am having a great deal of difficulty finding a good set of pistons for the D16a8
i have been quoted around the $1300 mark for a set of custom pistons - err not what i had in mind for a budget, i dont want to buy pistons off ebay racing
from what i have been led to believe, they dont make them because OEM pistons outlive the rods??...
so my Question to anyone who can answer it correctly - any ideas on where i can get a set of slugs for under $1000?
are the SOHC pistons Interchangeable with the DOHC engine??

im just copying info off here since the d16a8 is almost identical to the zc http://www.d-series.org/forums/dohc-zc/91053-dohc-zc-specs-mods-parts-list.html
the std bore on a zc is 75mm so anything with that bore would work. a6,z6.ect. will work as long as it's a 75mm. but it depends on the compression you want to run.
There are many companies that offer ZC specific Pistons now, so Aftermarket is there.

using sohc piston on dohc engine will lower the compression a lil bit. Pistons are interchangeable but compression will vary. as 2MPRS said it's 75mm.
U can buy set of pistons + pistons rings+ rods for less than 1000 from the usa include shipment

What pistons are those? Do you have the P29's from your ZC? Do some research on P29 pistons.

check out vitara pistons man.. Lots of info on the dohc zc (same as d16a8) they can also use a b20 timing belt from memory (could be wrong here) and also heard that b16 adjustable cams bolt on to them too (again check this).. I was going to drop on of these in my civic and read as much as i could find at the time, 2010

to be honest i was not sure if the SOHC pistons would be interchangable, so thanks for your help hmetro24.
Dougie_504 the engine has PM7 pistons.
i can see that pistons are available for under $100 the set, to be honest i dont even want to risk it, does anyone have feedback on the NP pistons?
looking at running 10.5:1 compression - its going to be a NA engine, after doing some research i can see that there is a variety to choose from...
