As the title suggests.. just wondering what everyone thinks about buying/selling a s2000 that's been resprayed? Do you think they're worth less/more or no difference etc?

I really want a white one but it's proving hard to find one that hasn't been resprayed (or asking a ridiculous price).

I wouldnt buy any car resprayed personally,I think its in the eye of the beholder. Some people see it as a positive but I see it as a redflag

sorry, resprayed is not for me either. *imo* it is harder to sell as well because the buyer may think that it was resprayed because something went wrong.

I have no problem buying / selling a resprayed car. I've had most of my previous cars resprayed due to fading paint / scratches / dents etc.
If its resprayed because of heavy crash damage then yeah, of course I'd have a problem but there is telltale signs to avoid buying a car that's been fixed up (if damage was major).

resprays also scare me.

on the face of it a respray is quite suspect, however if i bought a car and had scratches or got keyed or maybe just wanted a new colour, i'd do a respray for sure and probably in a different colour.

so really, if u can try get an honest answer out of the seller as to why it was resprayed (maybe ask for receipts and u can contact the place that did it) then i think it would be okay

Buying a car which is resprayed is totally normal. If people are like myself and a perfectionist then they would more then likely choose to respray the car to make it fresh again like new... If your concerned then take a half decent spray painter down to
The car with you. He will tell you if there is any structural damages along with what type of paint used and if it was professional or home job.

If car was involved in a large accident you will easily spot some uneven gaps in panels along with major deep scratches under the chassis which would have been made from straightening up the chassis.

Hope this info helps!

is it true that a respray job is inferior to a factory paint job?

i say this because, most spray painters will spray the color onto the panels individually; however a factory job will usually dunk the panels into the tank and coat it fully (i hope im making sense here guys)

i say this because in my experiences, metallic paint jobs never look/feel just the same. infact, they feel rough, and look dull compared to the other original panels.

depends on who did it, and what paints were used etc.

metallic is harder to match

know any good panel beaters in perth who can do the job properly for future reference.

metalic paints are great to look at, but definitely a pita to match once involved in a fender bender.

I think it's fine
I mean just find out why it was resprayed, check the car history, and just check around the car to see whether it was hit badly or not.
Chances are the owner just wanted a fresh paint Job which is totally understandable

that one sold a few months ago for 21k - 22k (i know because i had a deposit on it but ended up buying a far more expensive one lol). should be able to nego a price below or around 25.
he's dreaming with his current price. if people were willing to pay that, mine would be worth over 50k...and i would sell :P.
