Hey guys. Just finished spray painting my car. I used sorry cans (yes I know... :( ). Anyways I was wondering if I had to do anything special before I do clear coat. Like sanding it???

And how long should I wait before I apply it do you think???

Cheers

I thought you just clear coat it after you've finished painting your car? Because if you sand it after you've finished painting... what's the point? You'll be sanding off the paint again?

Not sure the proper procedures but I just helped my friend paint his cheapo rims recently and we clear coated it after we did about 3 layers of paint. Left the paint to dry, then 2-3 layers of clear coat.

if metallic paint dont sand it.
you can sand solid color paint with 600 grit to get it nice and smooth.
then wash and final prep with cleaner like prepsol (a watered down thinner)

I ended up just dusting it down and applied 2-3 coats of clear coat. I just checked it, some dust got on it. I can sand that off with some 1200grit later right?

so what did you do?
u used spray cans?
example: bonnet
2 layers of colour
once colour is tacky clear coat.orange peal/dust?

wet sand 1200grit then cut n polish
or if your unsure then start off with a finer grit.

since its canned u might aswell wet sand it and then try clear it again.
