I have a D15B7 engine in my 1993 Civic and have done Head gasket, Timing Belt, Water Pump, Hoses, Thermostat, Engine and Transmission Service Recently so big $$$$ spent. But ther motor is very sick, loses power after 30 minutes of driving so throttle haves to be stepped on more and it gets tired :(

Now I got a D16Y1 Block of a EG Civic and a D16 Head (non Vtec) off a standard 1997 EK1 Civic, I am thinking of taking out my sick engine and putting the new head and block in???

Yes I know everyone is going to say do a VTEC Swap but I already have a Prelude and just need this civic for normal driving so no modifications required

any tips help will be great

if you serviced it regularly why would the motor be sick?

i did buy the car at 163,000ks who knows if they are fake kilometres too, car just seems to have lost alot of power then what it had when I first bought it, i was driving it alot when it was overheating for a couple of weeks so that could have had damaged internal parts who knows?

compression test then if things turn out bad then you have 2 options

rebuild
d16 implant

whichever is cheaper as a d16y1 is barely an upgrade considering the trouble and labour involved. how many kms does the d16 have on it?

im not sure how much the d16 has on it, but apparently it has being rebuilt, and the EK Head has only 100.000ks on it driven by a grandpa car in the past.
im sure a d16y1 has better power than a standard d15 lol, i can do it myself with a couple of mates so no labour charges

Bolt the EK head to the D16Y1 block and re-use your D15B7 ancillaries (distributor, injectors, alternator).

This way you can keep your original OBD1 D15B engine loom. Also need new ECU.

will the plugs and leads be the same size or different? what about my timing belt and water pump?
I heard you can run it off the same ECU, i just want a reliable engine thats all, not changing everything
