I have 17" rims which I think the offset is slight wrong for my 1999 Civic. Running Pedders springs on stock shocks (approx 1.5" drop). Most of the time it's OK, but if I hit a sudden bump or dip in the road I get a rub on the guard, mostly seems to happen from the front right. I haven't heard any rubbing from any of the other sides. Any suggestions on how I could fix this?

No. The front guards look like there's some kind of plastic undercover. Other Civic owners would know what I mean.

no point in rolling ur guards unless it's rubbing on the outside. I rolled mine and this did sweet nothing as all the rubbing is on the inside. If you want to stop the rubbing take out all the plastic from under your guard. Only thing is then you've got to put up with rocks flicking up straight to your body work. So it's either let your tyres wear slghtly more or contend with dints.

Just take off ur wheel and you will see where it is rubbing, with a stanley knife just section out the parts where its rubbing and that way you dont have to remove the whole splay tray (thats what that black plastic is called)

I agree with mooshie.
this recently happened to my old EG. Ive got 17" with 205/40 tyres with standard shocks. I replaced satndard shocks with aftermarket ones.
No problem now

What are some good aftermarket shocks do you recommend?

change the shocks n trace then cut the splay trays wer the wheel is rubbing it as etcha mentioned, dat way u can still protect the inner from all da dust, rocks n stuf n u wont b scrapin nomor fo shizzle

yeh i agree with what other have said, cut the splash guard only where its rubbing, u dont want water sitting inside the guard, this = quicker rusting.

when i was rolling 18s i had major scrubbing at the front and after i cut the splash guards all was good :)

How and where exactly do you cut the splash guard? Is it possible to show pics of how you cut yours?

You should be able to see where it's rubbing wen you take the wheel off, jst look for the scuff marks on da plastic, then let good ol' pointy do the work.
