ABS Light

i have just purchased a 1995 VTi-R and sometimes when i drive the ABS light doesnt come on and sometimes it does..even though the light is not on, is the ABS still activated??

only if when you start your car the ABS light comes on then goes off ( 5 seconds or so ) then it should works as normal until the ABS light comes on and stays on.
when the ABS light is on the ABS wont function.

look for the DIY ecu check thread and find out what fault code has been registerd in your ABS ecu
