Anyone here with a B18 that's using a thermal intake manifold gasket type?

im going to replace my IM gasket as there's a leak.
so since i was going to replace the gasket i thought i might try and get some info on it.
my engine is a b18c-r, full exhaust system and air intake. for now.

my main question is if i was going to get one made up.
Thermal IM Gasket about 4-6mm thickness
will be looking into bottom end and head builds later on down the track.

is it worth going through all this trouble or should i just buy one thats already made?
do i need more mods to use this gasket - like do i need to do anything to my coolant inlet and outlet on IM
should i run 2 OEM gasket or similar and have the Phenolic gasket(say 5mm gasket) in between or just use Permatex form a gasket sealant?
will stock IM studs be fine or will the need an upgrade aswell?
will i need to mod the injector or is it fine? stock injectors i assume should be fine but input what you think please.

well before someone goes off at me. saying what is the point of this.
i know OEM gasket works fine. but the IM will absorb more heat.
so thats why im thinking of this sort of gasket.
less heat means consistent power delievery.

share your thoughts please.

A B18? Over my dead body.

But i do have an F22A9, and i have a Heat Shielding Gasket from Bismoto Engineering (They make them for almost all Honda engines, check their website it's about $45?)
Nothing will need to be modified to use one.
I used Permatex both sides of the Heat Shielding Gasket to seal it.
Your Intake Manifold studs only JUST come flush with the top of the nut, which is all that's required.
If you're picky try finding some Exhaust Manifold studs from the B18, they're about 5mm longer on my F22A9, so perhaps it's the same for you?
Also the Gasket is reusable, so you can clean the Permatex off and put it back on should you ever need to remove your Intake Manifold.

Lastly;
The Gasket itself does crush slightly.
Take ALOT of care when tightening it up, use a clever pattern to make sure the Intake Manifold is being tightened evenly.
Even if you're only doing 1/2 turns at time.
Trust me, stock cast Manifolds are weak.. I broke a port/polished F22A9 Intake Manifold on my Motor when installing, luckily i had a spare =P

:) just wondering if its a good idea to get a thermal type gasket now rather than later on.
also seeing if there was any more stuffing around to do.
if its good use for a B18C-R then i'll be doing it.

i normally just work from the inside(middle) out.
spec 17ft. roughly hand tighten first then 10ft also and then 17ft

i might just measure up the remaining of the studs and see how i go.

Well they have dyno proven results, which confirm the theoretical gains aswell.
So they'll be good in any Motor.

Bisimoto claims a 7-10whp gain from the Gasket, even on a standard Motor.. Dyno proven.
Not bad for $45 before shipping.
