hey all... im new to the honda scene and have inherited a 89 civic sedan off my uncle.

ive spent some time reading though some of the builds in the forum and there are some pretty wicked cars getting around. i wanna set up this car up for my younger brothers first car and help him slowly build it up. Ive acquired a new engine to eventually swap for really cheap along with a few other nice bits and pieces but i still need to get abit before i can start putting it all together....
it will be a slow build but the first thing im trying to do is get the bloody thing running properly. does anyone have much experience with the dual carb to give me some advice? im not amazing with cars... just know the basics but am keen to improve

I need to get the thing roadworthy so my brother can have something to drive. hes going for his license this week. i can get it to run but it wont idle and every 5 second it wants to die and i have to try save it with the throttle. im thinking maybe its the choke or the carbs but not sure.

there is a green thing that comes out of the side of the left carb intake manifold near where the radiator hose connects... its made of plastic and has three vac hoses attached. its broken off and my uncle thinks that is my problem but im not so sure. i just plugged it in an attempt to figure out if it runs differently when its plugged or unplugged i can tell if thats the problem or not. i guess i have to replace it anyway but can anyone help me out.

sorry but i didnt want to open an introduction thread and then a question in here so i just did both.

cant wait to get to know everyone.

Welcome abourd ozhonda, may you have a nice and welcoming stay here.

89 Civics are getting long in the tooth now and keeping one in good running condition will require a bit of knowlwdge if you want to do it yourself.

please post pictures of the car.

good thing you're doing a lot of reading on this forum, lots of good info to absorb.

good luck

Welcome that green piece with vac line is the problem, replace it. Also could be the idle is low , idle adjust screw is in the middle of the dual carbs , spin it half spin and see how it idle
