Fit VTI-L steering wheel audio controls to VTI?

I own a 2006 Honda Civic VTI. I was wondering whether it would be possible to fit the steering wheel audio controls from a VTI-L to the base VTI model? Alternatively I would also consider third party controls as long as they integrated well with the steering wheel.

I did do a search before posting but didn't find anything, however I've searched again and found the following post:

I'm hoping I'll be able to pick up the controls cheaply 2nd hand from the wreckers.
