hey guys so i'm looking at doing a rear disc brake conversion for my eg civic (on drums) found a setup with handbrake lines bolts etc etc. what else do i need for the conversion? i heard just a prop valve and maybe different lines? if i go with the conversion do i need to change the lines that go to my brake booster? i recently changed the booster/cylinder to a eg8 sedan one (lines didn't fit flush.. but did some diy to fix that problem for the time being) .. anyways so what else do i need guys? and how hard of a job is it ? thankss !

stuff you need
example for brake conversion: from eg to dc
40/40 prop out of a dc2r
dc2r brake master
dc2r front knuckle,rotor and caliper
dc2r rear trailing arm, rotor and caliper
with handbrake cable
dc2r rims and wheels

remove and fit straight sway over

if you can get everything from a wreck/donor car it would be easier, saves time searching for everything separately. best to go looking at dc2 vtir wrecks cause dc2 and eg are pretty much the same chassis, albeit the length.

you'd need
- rear disc setup with trailing arms
- handbrake lines
- prop valve
- bmc & booster (just incase you wanna go with 262mm front conversion as well)

and that should be it :) not 100% sure what else is needed. How hard of a job it is, basically, how you remove your old eg setup is how you'll be putting on the new setup, shouldnt be any differences (cept the drums and discs, lol). Dont forget to bleed all 4 brakes afterwards!

If you already have a 13/16" BMC and 3040 prop valve you don't have to change them when doing a rear disc conversion.

They're factory equipped on EG5's aswell.

yeah you need prop valve
it made a difference in braking.

i had 242 front, upgraded to 262 fronts without 4040 prop valve (was still using drum pv)
works but bit hard to brake, hard to explain but it didnt brake as hard as it was on 242.

after pv upgrade to 4040, it was whole lot better.

i didnt change any bmc and booster on my EG when i upgrade my front to 282mm BB4 brakes and drum to disc rear brake conversion, the brake paddel isnt soft as most people said it would.

yea man. 4040 prop is right for 262mm front and disk rear. just bigger bmc. Got ek4 262mm front on mine with eh9 rear disk on mine with stock eh9 prop and ek4 bmc. Braking is boss

what wrong with running 262mm front and rear disc converson and use stock eg - prop valve, bmc & booster ???

just need
- rear disc setup with trailing arms
- handbrake lines
and use stock
- prop valve
- bmc & booster than should be alright to go.

pedel feel will be very bad and kinda spongy.. better to do essentials like brakes the proper way. but hey feel free to cheap out and loose your only stopping device if you want to

I did this rear disc conversion last week, my advice is drop the exhaust and heat sheild before trying to unbolt the hand brake cables. If i'd have done that from the start I would have saved my hands from various injuries and about 2 hours stuffing around lol
